Deafening and overpacked

If you want a restaurant where you can talk to your tablemates, forget this place. The noise level is deafening and I've never been to a restaurant where they packed more tables together so tightly. The food was pretty ordinary and I. can't imagine ever going back. The owner stopped by our table to ask how everything was. My husband said okay and was about to tell him how overcrowded it was, but he turned away. I had pasta with artichokes and shrimp and it was completely bland.

Great Food

My boyfriend and I come here very often since it is located just a few blocks away from my apartment. I'm extremely picky when it comes to food and I absolutely love the food here. The only issue is, the restaurant is extremely crowded. Being that it is a small place, each table is on top of one another, offering no privacy. I feel like I'm having dinner with the couple next to me. All in all - good food, crowded space.

WOULD NEVER GO AGAIN!

I had clients coming in to town and made reservations for them (party of 10) in the large table 2 weeks in advance, and then confirmed the reservation day-of. and even held it with my credit card. When my party arrived they were asked to wait over 30 minutes and then were denied the table because another party of ""regulars"" came in and were given the table. They were so frustrated at the terrible service they left and went up the street to a different restaurant. They won't have many more ""regulars"" if this is how they treat their new customers!

Excellent food and service

I decided to try this place because I needed a small romantic type italian food restaurant to take my girl on a date. I was looking for a decent variety of food and I found it here. The atmosphere was very nice and quiet and the service was great. They did not hover over me but were available at the turn of my head as if it was anticipated. The food was delicious as the steak was well cooked and the chicken was amazing. if your looking for a nice small, quiet place to bring a date with good food and resonable prices you should give Novita a try.

of the original Italian food making it one the most pleasant dining experience I had in long time .

Always a Great Experience Especially When The G Man Is In The House--Great Cheese Cake--Wonderful St

I always enjoy going to Novita. The food is always outstanding the waiters great and Giuseppe the manager one of a kind--the greeter of the Italian kind! I love the samon first course, believe that the lamb is superior and the cheese cake-ineffable. I simply love this place. The staff, food and friendly atmosphere make it the place you want to be when you are with special friends or when you simply want a great experience!

What a pleasure

Novita has some of the most delicately prepared Italian food in NY. The way the simple dishes are developed to full sophistication is masterful. I have been there with clients of mine, girlfriend, and by myself and I have always had a very pleasant experience. The whole staff is courteous and prompt and the wine by the glass selection is excellent and reasonably priced.

Thank you for being there.

italian at its best

novita is one my favorite places in town - the food is exceptional, simple and to the point yet irresistably savory. with so many italian restaurants around it's the clear standout when you want italian at its best. the stuffed zuchini blossoms and porcini ravioli are divine and the fish specials always remind me it is called 'a special'. the wine selection is excellent and the knowledgable staff will quickly guide you through some interesting finds from all over italy. altogether, novita is charming and sophisticated, feel excited to bring friends and clients alike :)

Overall
perfection from piemonte

2nd time here. first time a wonderful dinner for 4, today lunch for two ladies who lunch. perfection. special appetizer, zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta , as perfect as the ones we had at our dinner. flowers are hothouse variety and you can only stuff zucchini flowers right from the garden. i know. i stuff our own and believe me these were wonderful. menu does not mention the prosciutto di parma upon which they recline with a mesclun""pillow"" sorry i spoiled the surprise. pasta perfect, pizzocheri, a homemade buckwheat pasta enveloped in light sauce of baby artichokes and highest quality shrimp. we ordered desert to share, tiramisu, but were surprised and delighted that the chef had offered us a freebie, his cheesecake on a bed of raspberry coulis with fresh perfect raspberries adorning the plate. wine by the glass was fine, but i leave connaiseurship to my husband. my friend's asparagus gratinee, emerald green and perfectly peeled were what asparagus should be. her dish of lamb loin arrived as she had requested, medium rare and wonderful for carnivores. if you don't go here for lunch or dinner, you're missing a wonderful time. oh, btw, if you want a reasonable and good haircut, jean louis david has a shop on park avenue south and 23rd. oh and the subway, N and R are close by.

Customer service ?

Baa, baa, baa.... how can one enjoy a meal while tables are being moved around over one's head to squeeze in extra seating, waiters constantly bumping into you, or just standing around and not clearing off the empty wine bottle or drinks ? The best service we received was when we finished our entrees and everything was cleared immediately in order to speed up the turnover. The food was good but the overall experience unacceptable. Restaurants come and go but those that survive show concern for the customer's total dining experience.
I can definitely say NO to Novita - 1 star.
