Bartender hates clients who is not in love with jews

I am local to this bar, but the bartender hates me and putting down every time i am there. She asked me at my first visit if i like jewish people because she is jewish. I said that i am indifferent. Next time and all the times after she is badmouthing about me as soon as i enter the place by talking about me with all other customers that i dont like jewish people. The last time she is simply told me "" You are not welcome here"".\r

Awful!

Probably the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The food was a disgrace. Salad was tired and stale. The fish was even worse and even staler - one mouthful was enough.
However, far far worse than anything I have ever experienced in any restaurant was the so called 'entertainment'. This was beyond belief awful. It was pathetic. A very old man, clearly full of himself dressing up in stupid outfits and making a terrible and very loud noise which seemed to irritate most customers and en

I was strongly recommend that this restaurant be avoided.
As a final comment, within two hours of eating in the place I was obliged to rush back to my hotel with an urgent need to evacuate my bowels. I only just made it in time!
Absolutely awful.
(I gave it one star because there is no option for no star!)

Very Disappointed

I've been to Mimi's Restaurant before and enjoyed the atmosphere---piano music and customers from the neighborhood--so I thought it would be a great place for me and my friend to go last week for dinner, while everyone else would be in a sports bar watching the World Cup.\r
\r
I was very disappointed by the horrible service! The waitress took our order and it was another 45 minutes before we got our food! She never once even came by our table to apologize or explain the delay. If
...view moreit weren't for the fun conversation I was having with my friend, I really would've gone straight into the kitchen to complain. \r
\r
The waitress intentionally kept away from our table until she brought out the food and even then she never said anything about the wait. She never refilled our water glasses and she never even came back to ask us if we wanted more beverages (which we did after waiting almost an hour).\r
\r
We didn't leave a tip, of course, and when the waitress noticed the lack of tip with the check, she had the nerve to walk back to our table, place the check and our cash back on the table, look at us both in the face and walk away--as if to make us ashamed of what we did.\r
\r
I will not be returning to Mimi's.

Great service, food, and atmosphere

We found this place walking around the area. It seemed a bit crowded when we entered, but they seated us right away! The food was great, the waitstaff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was fabulous! Definitely want to visit again.

Best fun-bar in Midtown East

The place was half full. There was a table with Spanish tourists. Another family with kids and Statue-of-Liberty hats. There was a piano, and an older guy... er... doing stuff. He put on Spanish drag to flamenco (with castanets) for the Spaniards. Then he put on a flashing glitter I-don't-know-what to do HAPPY BIRTHDAY for one of the little girls in the family. The girl and her brother and sister then performed ITSY BITSY SPIDER karaoke. As the night grew later, the Spaniards and the f...view moreamily left. \r
\r
Then it was US. And we got the Japanese national anthem and a whole lot more fun. This is my new favorite bar in Mid-town East. I can thank PJ Clarke's for making me find it! (I was escaping from that awful place!) --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers

Beware the heavy blonde waitress!

I have been coming to Mimi's for probably 15 years. I'm not a regular but I go there 4-5 times a year. Unfortunately, I lost my small purse somewhere in the restaurant. I looked for a little while but I couldn't find it. Not only would nobody help me look for my purse, since I couldn't pay for my drink without my purse, the heavy blonde waitress (most likely in her 60s) threatened to call the police if I didn't leave right then. She threw me out in the street with nothing. Had it...view more not been for the kindness of a stranger who gave me some cab money I'd have been stuck walking home and it's not a short walk!\r
\r
It's not like I just walked in off the street trying to get a free drink making up some story about losing a purse I never had. As I said I've been coming there for 15 years and this waitress knows me.\r
\r
I called the restaurant the next afternoon. The purse was found the night before by the cleaning people. There were 4 hours left until closing time. If she had let me stay to look for it I probably would have found it. I had to pay $565 for a late night locksmith to get into my apartment because nobody had my keys.\r
\r
This is not the first time this particular waitress has been rude but it was never to this extent before. There is no excuse for this kind of ill treatment of customers. At probably any other restaurant, someone would have offered to help find the purse, especially since it wasn't busy that night.\r
\r
I have always enjoyed Mimi's until now. The food is good and the entertainment is fun. I've gone there primarily because Mimi's can be a fun place to sing and singing is my passion. Hunter, the piano player, can be a real hoot!\r
\r
I doubt I will ever go back there again though. I have a very bad taste in my mouth thanks to this waitress. I advise anyone who goes there to sit at the bar or ask for another waitress or move tables if she comes up to you. You'll get better service without any rudeness.\r
\r
I am appalled that any waitperson would treat a known customer this way. Not only would the right thing to do be helping me look for the purse and giving me enough time to exhaust my own search, they should've offered to lend me the cab fare home if the purse wasn't found. I'm currently unemployed because of the recession, and losing the $565 really hurt.\r
\r
If it weren't for this, I'd give the bar/restaurant 4 stars.

SIgn Me Up

A joyful compendium of old school neighborhood drinking/dining and characters abound. Piano playing is fun and dont be afraid to participate. The food is (surprisingly) good!

Great customer service

We were visiting from Minnesota and were treated like ""family"" at Mimi's. The owner, manager and staff were warm and inviting to us, a group of 10. The food was wonderful and plentiful the atmosphere was fun and enjoyable! Chicken Delicious was sooooooooooo funny and entertaining! He sang the Mary Tyler Moore theme song for us using my name instead of Mary living in Minneapolis! The deserts were AWESOME! If you ever need a pick-me-up Mimi's is the place to go! Good food for the price, Fun entertainment & atmosphere, VERY BAD management

Went there and had a big party with my friends a couple of weeks ago.\r
\r
I heard a lot of good things about this place -amazing food for the price, fun entertainment, and friendly staff; and I hate doing this but it has to be said.\r
\r
I came in late to the place and my friends were havblast singing with the piano player named ""Hunter"". This guy is great, wore different cost and at one time had a toy bird on his head!\r
\r
I've been there for an hour or so when this lady be
...view morehind the bar barked at me telling me that I need to buy a drink or get out because supposedly I have not bought a drink or food while being in there. I don't know if she's the owner or not but she must be blind. I've been there at the piano drinking their bottled beers! This place doesn't even have anything on tap! She started cursing me out and telling me that this is a bar and people come to drink. I apologized since I didn't want to start something and asked her for a drink. She then turned and refused to serve me. I couldn't believe it. I walked out of the place and my friends were startled and amazed.\r
\r
I don't know how they do business but it sounds like the owner only wants the money. She was either the owner or manager because my friends and I watched her cursing and yelling at a staff -treating him very unprofessionally and threatening to fire him. Pretty sad.\r
\r
I do not recommend this place at all. I hope professional reviewers go into this place in disguise and really see what goes on in there and put them out of business.
