husband gets sick off tuna roll and they told us to f off

We dine at Bar Masa 3 or 4 times a week. Mainly because we live in the building and DID love it. a few days ago my husband got violently ill of spicy tuna roll which has turned into a infection. We absolutely know it was that and doctor took test. I spoke with Bar Masa about this and they basically told us to F off and we were liars. I can tell you I did not expect this, especially for people who spend $40,000 ... view more

NO respect for Masa Takayama...

We were regular customers at Masa and my husband got really ill for days after eating tuna roll. We know it was that and have Doctors report. When I called and wrote to them they basically told us to f-off and called us liars. I was not looking for money or even a free meal just the inspection report of the tuna. They REFUSED to give me a copy! (which speaks volumes) Maybe others were sick as well! The attitud... view more

Simply Divine!

Ok, those reviewers crying about the price, just go home and cry to your mom. The very concept of this restaurant is that the best food is priceless. And this is the best sushi I ever tasted in my life. Maybe one day I'll go to Japan and find another place better and cheaper but if you live in the states, this is it. Service is impeccable as expected. I did not see Chef Masa but the chef I got is quite passionat... view more

Good sushi, good service. The ...

Good sushi, good service. The sake is dangerous and may force you to reconsider spending $600 on a Wednesday.

Bucket List Restaurant

There are all kinds of restaurants that we all love. There are the familiar, close to home places that have a high comfort level. There are special occasion places you treat yourself to maybe once a year or so. There are even destination restaurants, those where you literally plan a trip around that require maybe getting in an airplane. And then there are those places that are the elite of the elite, what we migh... view more

Big Rip off

Big ripped off! $450 per person plus tax & tips.... U don't even know what you are getting, but just some cheap fish, don't even think about any Wagyu beef ($125 more for few slices), foi gras, nor blow fish! Compare to Urasawa in Beverly Hills, Masa supposes to be better and more expectation because Masa was the ""teacher"" of Hiroyuki, the main chef of Urasawa! We expected more from Masa such as blow fish sash... view more

Awful service

I wanted to fly to New York for my fiance's birthday in September and take him to Masa as a surprise. The restaurant only accepts reservations one month out but I called prior to August as I needed to book our plane tickets (or make other arrangements if necessary). I called in late July and talked to the receptionist, explaining the plans I was making and asking if I could make a reservation for the specific day in ... view more

Amazing experience, like no other

Never thought I'd dine here, because I like sushi but always thought the difference between good and great sushi would elude me, so why waste the money? Enter a family member with a debt to repay to my husband, and next thing you know we're eating at Masa.\r \r I've done all the NYtimes **** and Michelin *** in New York and found Masa to be exceptional even by multiple-star standards. The service was excellent, a... view more

Superb

The restaurant is small but seating is limited so the tables and the sushi counter is pretty spacious. The decor is simple but elegant. My boyfriend and I sat at the counter for dinner for his bday. We had six appetizers and 22+ pieces of sushi each and of course dessert. Each course was unique in its own way and delicious. There was not one course I was disappointed in. The service was phenomenal. They were v... view more

Got sick next day

I went to bar masa and got sick (although my friend did not). I threw up the whole day and felt terrible! \r \r It was extremely expensive and I could understand if service, food and ambience was at the level but: \r ?Most of the staff was not Japanese (only the guy cleaning the table) so that dissapointed me. \r ?My friend ordered some appetizers for two (to the waiter discretion) and he stuffed us with SO much... view more
