Maybe next time I'll take someone else's suggestion and order from the taqueria instead of reserving a table because the service was reallly slow. Not to mention, I felt like we were packed in there like sardines. I could literally reach my arm across and grab the centerpiece off the table beside me which meant we were also totally engulfed in the loud conversation from the party beside us. The food was great, but it felt like a tease when I saw how small the helpings were. I could have literally eaten three of my meals to myself. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're A. starving and B. in a rush.

Last time I checked, eating establishments (if there is seating) MUST provide toilet facilities for their patrons. Well, apparently at this scene, unless you've snagged a table in the desired depths of the club, you cannot use the facilities. There are 3 portions to the operation-- a cafe, a ""brasserie"" (with a tricky reservation system), and a street-level taco counter with a hand-full of tables. When we arrived Saturday night, the cafe was closed, and we weren't permitted beyond the velvet rope. That was ok, as we just wanted food. So, while waiting for our to-go order, an extremely polite Japanese patron (at an upstairs table) asked the bouncer where the bathroom was. He condescendingly directed her to a bar down the block and across the street. When I confronted him, he said, ""That girl is eating a four dollar taco. The toilets are for the people downstairs who've made a reservation a month ago, and are spending hundreds of dollars."" Wow. Despicable. Illegal.

I inevitably stop here when I'm nearby. The last two things I had: a chorizo taco and a fish taco. Both were really good. The fish was flaky and i like that its grilled and not fried. The chorizo wasn't over cooked. Skip the sit down, order from the taqueria and you won't have to deal with the service everyone else seems to have gotten

We will never return to this restaurant. The hostess needs to be terminated. Her behavior towards our two guests who were innocently coming to the bar/lounge area for a drink whilst they waited for us to leave with them for another event was embarrassingly patronizing, dare I say bitchy. Yes, bitchy would be appropriate. But it went further than that. She was accusatory, derogatory, and severely inappropriate in her assumption these individuals were taking advantage of their reservation system. They have to get better front people.
At 6 pm on a Wednesday two of my colleagues and I went there for a quick bite to eat before heading to another function. We did not have reservations but they sat us at a table for three. However, the server watered our table then never returned for 25 minutes, upon their return they informed us they'd be right with us to take our order. We witnessed the server then tend to taking the orders of now what was the third table that came in AFTER us. Seeing that taking the orders of 6 people would mean another many minutes before tending to our table we left our table to sit in their empty lounge. The bartender happily took our food orders and we sat on sofa's to continue our meeting. When two guests dropped by to accompany us to our next function the hostess would not permit them down to the bar for a drink stating we had misled her with our numbers. Misled? We aren't a conspiracy, we are a group of people who innocently had two others drop by. Two others who were willing to pay for drinks, tip well and support your establishment and fill your empty lounge.
Needless to say if this is the attitude of one person, it breeds to others and ultimately the entire experience became a staff of individuals too young in jobs evidently too complicated (as seating people with civility is hard work, of course). They need more than an attitude change, they need to terminate these overly entitled self righteous front girls who behave like children with their hissy fits. There are plenty of polite young people eagerly looking for these $9/hour jobs. Hire them.

When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a young boy attending the hostess post, I would say a teenager. He took our information down and then later took us to our table. No conversation once so ever. Waited for our menu's for about 15 minutes until I requested one from the host (Teenage boy). We ordered yuca fries to begin with, but they were stale and old. We didnt even touch another one after we tried the first one. I had to call the waiter over to tell him to take them away and bring us our food because we waited for half an hour until they removed the fries. The waiter did not ask me why we didnt eat them, so I told him why and his response was ""Oh I thought you guys were slow eaters"" I couldnt believe it. He didnt offer to do anything, which we werent expecting anyways but at least as a courtesy it would have been nice to do so. The suppose pitcher of sangria is more like a large glass for three people only. Very tiny pitcher for the expensive sangria. Overall it didn't meet the expectations we had. I wouldn't return to the restuarant.

What happened to this #1 taco place in NYC? Not sure if it was overflowing customers on Saturday dinner time, but the waitress just would not seat us straight. She refused to seat my party( 6 people) because one was in the bathroom and the other one was talking on a cell by the door. She let other people who came after us seat at the bigger tables, and finally let us squeez in at the 4-people table. And the waiter said most of the dish was not serving that day includling the steak taco. It took 35min to get us the utencil and the water..it took more than an hour to get us the drinks. It took 1hr 30min to get us the dish. It took 1 sec to get us the check. The waiter took the dish (my friend was still eating from the dish) as soon as I asked for the check. I'm never going back to this place again as long as they keep the same staff.

Great tacos! It gets cramped at times, but it's worth it if you're in the area. But onto the reason I'm writing - To ""laesquinasucks"" : a lot of times you can't eat outside food in a restaurant not because they're not making money on you, but because of health codes/liability. You're bringing in uncontrolled and unknown ingredients into a controlled production environment. Try understanding the basis of general food industry rules before going crazy, dude.
