Success! Thanks for posting your review of Katz's Delicatessen. You’ve done the world some good today.

Decent, but expensive

I've been to a lot of sandwich places lately, and this one was quite good. I got a Ruben sandwich, and was pretty thick and hearty for what I ordered. The only issue I have is I still feel the prices are a slight be inflated for the food. It's still a good Deli, but don't walk in there with $5. Haha

Quality Control is Gone

I still give it 3 stars because they do still make one of the best pastrami sandwiches in NYC, but here is a place that has become too popular for its own good that management no longer cares. I do say management because the staff are still hard-working as ever but the quality of the meat has gone down tremendously and that is the manager's responsibility. There used to be a time when I would easily give this place 5... view more

Best pastrami ever

I loved the pastrami in this place. You do have to wait on line for a while but its worth the wait.

THICK sliced vs THIN sliced...

Bottom line with this review (forget about how many stars we gave it); you either LOVE THINLY sliced GARGANTUAN sandwiches (pastrami and corn beef ESPECIALLY) as are made at the rival - Carnegie Deli OR you like THICKER and more manageable sandwiches from Katz's. We personally prefer Carnegie Deli, but this is also a top notch quality New York deli of that type genre. It is ""expensive"" when you compare the size of ... view more

If you like to be abused, go to Katz

Overpriced, bad service, average food, filthy place. When you search in Google for ""bad customer service"" a picture of this place should come up

Best Pastrami Sandwich

A must visit for anyone coming to NYC. The Pastrami on Rye is my favorite.

Katz' Big sandwiches

""This is probably the best known NYC deli? ?, and if it is not the best deli, it is close, and probably serves the best pastrami, although 2nd Avenue Deli (which closed for awhile, and is now located on E 33rd in the Murray Hill section of Manhattan) is right there. ""will recommended Katz's Deli for? ?or salami. It is good, but it can be a bank buster if you go in blind so I recommend checking out their menu on the... view more

Overhyped and Overpriced

After seeing this on Man vs. Food, I wanted to try it. I had a pastrami rueben for 17.05. Plus tip, soda and sales tax for $23.50. C'mon man! It was an average sized sandwich and was not the best sandwich I ever had either. I am not an expert on pastrami, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Overrated but still good pastrami

Very expensive, always crowded, the staff is actually pretty nice. The pastrami and corned beef are absolutely delicious tho I will give them that. Other than those two sandwiches not much to say about the place. P.S. Unless you are coming to visit in NY or entertaining an out of state guess I suggest you take your order to go rather than have to be subjected to all the busyness that goes on there.

More About Reputation?

It’s a landmark and a well-known place for tourists to go to and even some locals. So of course when friends visit from elsewhere they want to go here. Who wouldn’t? Mile high sandwiches loaded with more meat than your body can even handle. But is it really as good as it’s reputation? Hmmm… It’s fine for the whole show and historic aspect of it, but if you were more concerned with taste and your wallet, I’d find some... view more
