Best of the Best

Joint Effort is by far the best physical therapy clinic with the best staff and therapists I have encountered. I have had the misfortune of requiring six Staph-related operations in the past two years, each of which involved the removal of bone and tissue. I have also had the extraordinary good fortune of finding Joint Effort and benefitting from their work following each of my surgeries. Each time, despite doctors? predictions, due to the physical therapy and related services Joint Effort provided me, I exceeded expectations and recovered fully (including complete strength and mobility) and function physically as if no surgery had happened.

The staff of Joint Effort seamlessly:

? Arranged all treatments around my schedule;
? Began and ended all sessions on time;
? Processed all insurance issues with zero effort on my part;
? Communicated regularly with my doctors regarding targeted treatment;
? Provided precise therapies (including manipulation, exercise instruction, massage, stimulation, heat, and cold) which succeeded every time in leading to and beyond my complete recovery; and,
? Even followed up with calls long after treatment ceased to find out how I was faring.

To a member, the staff is expert, experienced, empathetic, and extraordinary. Each goes well beyond expected treatment giving professional care so personally and personably that my extensive visits became more like visiting a family or group of friends than a clinic. I was made to feel part of a healing community. Even more important, I was made well.

Lloyd Hines, Joint Effort owner, was my first therapist and was a superb diagnostician and therapist. For my remaining treatments, Evan Deckelbaum took my case. He was laser-sharp in knowing what to do and how to teach me what to do at home so that my pain grew less with each treatment and I healed more quickly. He was remarkably kind and completely patient. The most amazing aspect of his work is that not only did I recover, but I am back to all of my normal activities (bicycling everywhere, regular trips to the gym) and more. The facility is well-equipped, always clean, and expertly staffed by the kindest and most learned providers at all levels and in all aspects of my experience there. I hope not to require such services again, but should I need them, I would go nowhere else. Period.

P.S. As for the other reviews here, I find it very mysterious that anyone would believe that any treatment could be instantaneous. Not on this planet! And on this planet, Joint Effort is the best of the best.

Kidding or what?

I went to Joint Effort with a prescription from my doctor, it was ignored. I never received electrical stimulation, ice or any alternate modalities. My condition worsened until I was finally told to do squats (not on my prescription) and had to have emergency surgery a few days later since the pain became so awful I could not tolerate it.

One of the therapists actually saw me for 12 minutes, watched me exercise and then sent me home. I go to a different therapist now and am generally there about 1 1/2 hours and my presciption is followed and I improve after each visit. This was a sham and I am furious that I was hurt and not helped.

Skilled and Professional

I successfully rehabbed an Achilles injury at Joint Effort thanks to my skilled physical therapists (especially Michelle and Shoshana) and the individual attention I received. They took a detailed history of my injury, explained the different steps in the rehabilitation process, and patiently worked with me on each exercise and machine. They were professional, thorough and sensitive during a time when my injury left me uncertain. I received a great balance of aggressive and careful treatment for a fast but smart recovery that didn't risk re-injury. The staff was respectful, the facility was comfortable, and they were great working with my insurance company so that I didn't have to. I would certainly recommend Joint Effort for physical therapy.

The best physical therapy I have ever received

When Dr. Dines at Hospital for Special Surgery recommended Joint Effort for treatment of a torn labrum in my shoulder, I was wary due to some negative PT experiences in my past. Wow, was I ever pleasantly surprised! All three therapists by whom I've been treated are very well versed in the workings of the human body, how it responds to injury, and how it heals.

Each of the therapists has obligingly answered my many, and I mean many, questions about my changing symptoms, purpose of the exercises, options in surgical and non-surgical treatments, and effects of past injuries on my current condition. Most surprising, all three therapists are at ease discussing the findings of alternative medical practitioners, and allowing those findings to inform their therapies when appropriate.

They also have an uncommon understanding of and sympathy for the emotional strain that injury (especially chronic injury) can cause. My therapy has been a very collaborative process with many people, myself included, offering insights into my healing - a joint effort all around. I think the term that best sums up Joint Effort's treatment is respect - for my body, my emotions, my mind, and my choices. Essentially, they treat the whole person. I've been looking for years for a holistic approach within the medical establishment, and now I've found it.

First class facility

Roomy facility, well laid-out, lots of machines, excellent support staff, friendly and accommodating. Therapist seems well trained, carefully took history, outlined treatment. Owner seems well in control of the operation and ready to facilitate if necessary. Excellent security, clean, comfortable and welcoming. Compared with two other PT facilities in the neighborhood, Joint Effort Physical Therapy is far and away the superior in every category. You have to give it a plus just for the name--""Joint Effort."" And that's the way the facility operates. Two weeks down, all positive.

slightly below average physical therapy

I've had a lot of physical therapy and I cannot recommend this place. They do not provide enough individual attention and I didn't feel as though the therapists were really concentrating on me-- the sessions felt very pro forma and minimal. A significant portion of the therapy I had was conducted by the assistants and not the therapist, who had already moved on to the next client. I never understood the billing policy and my co-pay would vary for no particular reason. On the plus side, the facility is clean and modern, I stayed with them because they were conveniently located for me.

Nice facility/nice machines but...

I dislocated my shoulder father's day. Only had a partial tear of a ligament. I was referrred to this facility by my orthopedist. For a month I went for physical therapy and for a month I did the same exercises. I questioned the physical therapist about the apparent muscle atrophy in my arm and she said not to be concerned. HOW COULD I NOT BE CONCERNED. Bottom line: this facility is not aggressive enough with their approach to healing.

On a final note, a recurring monthly appt i thought i had i apparently didn't have after the end of the month but nobody bothered to tell me. When i showed up for physical therapy was the time they decided to tell me i no longer had that time slot. They juggled and rearranged me so that i lost the physical therapist i always had and was seeing the physical therapist du jour. NOT GOOD. NOT CONSIDERATE. I wouldn't recommend this facility.

Below standards

I've been to physical therapy at several different places in my life, and this was by far the worst. The place is understaffed and tries to cram in too many patients at once. Every time I go, it's a madhouse. All too often I have had to wait 20 minutes for a room, and if I have a question while doing exercises, the therapist is too busy to help. The appointments are shorter than most places, and they hire therapists fresh out of school. Their equipment is old. It looks like they try to cut corners in all the wrong places. If you need therapy, go somewhere else.
