I've been going to Onyx & Jade for years and have never been disappointed. The service is top noch, my hair always looks great, and the prices are pretty reasonable. buywithmeNYC has a great deal going on right now where you can get a cut and blowdry for only $30. Here's the link if you're interested: ttp://bit.ly/bgTifj I know I won't be passing this deal up =)

I have been a regular at Jade for the past 2 years, mostly going for their 1hr massage and spa/regular pedicure. It is the best-kept secret on the UWS!
Michael gives the best massages.. he knows exactly where you need work and is always sure to apply the right pressure. Very friendly and professional. I am usually very picky with massages but he has always been consistent and I leave feeling tension-free with a fantastic posture!
The pedicures are very good too, including the foot massages that come as an add-on to the regular pedi or are included in the spa pedi.
The best part is that they take walk-ins or appointments at the very last minute. Sometimes, the receptionist or the technicians may come across as very no-nonsense and a bit brusque but it doesn't bother me since I am not the sort who likes lavish treatment. The prices are extremely affordable, which means I can pamper myself regularly!
The massage that I had today with Michael was pretty much the most heavenly I had ever experienced in a while, hence my eagerness to finally submit a long overdue review.

Just got back from an amazing afternoon at Jade. It's the best kept secret on the UWS. 1 hr massage, Facial, mani and pedi $155!! Great deal! This place is super clean and accommodating. It's not loud and annoying. I've been to the more expensive places and feel the services are comparable if not better. I definitely got the attention I needed. Plus I love that I can just walk home after a relaxing service.
I've seen Michael a few times and he gives the best massage. He's very professional and pays close attention to where you need the work. He's pleasant and always happy to see you. Great with the neck area!! The music is soft and relaxing and the atmosphere is very comfortable.
Then I went to Judy for a facial. She was very engaging and friendly. She used this cool device that kills bacteria under your skin. It's kinda loud but I like the idea. I bought a hydrating mask from her with no pressure at all. While I was laying with my mask on she gave an awesome arm, back and neck massage.
Mani and pedi was fine. Then another shoulder massage...
Everyone was so nice and Michael even came by to say goodbye later after all my services were done as well as Judy.
I'll be back again and again. Oh yeah, after 10 services you get a free mani. Get the red card and have them fill it out :)

I totally don't get the couple of stinky reviews Jade has gotten on
CitySearch, since I've had nothing but very good experiences there.
It's very well run, small but artfully designed, extremely clean,
unfailingly friendly, and totally professional. The facials, waxing,
and massage are all international class. You can sit in a comfy
lounge chair for a pedicure, drink a cup of exotic Chinese tea, and
get a skillfully administered foot massage. What a luxury! And it's
affordable. I love it.

I had my first Jade facial yesterday and was concerned after reading some negative reviews. Having grown up getting facials at Georgette Klinger's and recently being treated to a facial at Bliss, I was shocked to find that this was the BEST facial I've ever had. She was fully attentive, had the lightest fingers for expulsion I've ever felt and gave me a much needed massage in all the right muscles. She spent as much time as was needed on each phase, unlike other spas. I will definitely return and recommend her to my friends. Reservations recommended.

I am sick and tired of these ladies charging me a different sum for the same service. I get the SAME bikini wax every month and I've been charged anything from $15 to $30 for the same service. These ladies are just trying to milk me for all they can get. WHAT A RIP OFF! So unprofessional!

I wish I would have read these reviews before I went through my horrible exprience. I had been to this place 3 times before but only for a manicure, and now I know why! I made an appointment for a half leg wax. Well, maybe there is a new things such as a 1/4 leg wax that I just haven't heard of yet?! The worst job ever! I was in and out of that wax room 3 times. Each time they negotiated among themselves (Not in English, obviously) who was going to take over. Typically, I'm in & out within 20 minutes at my regular saloon, but since I was not in that area I opted to try this place. WHAT A MISTAKE! STICKY ALL OVER, LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM, horrible job that I had to shave my legs when I got home! They were so read from the many times they spread the COLD wax on me, despite me telling them over and over that it was not hot. ALL IN ALL - WILL NEVER RETURN. NOT EVEN FOR A MANICURE. GO DOWN THE BLOCK, WHERE THEY SPEAK ENGLISH, ARE FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. Typical Seinfeld scene in there.

I went in on a thursday morning and the spa was very quiet nd I got right in. I got a regular pedicure, which
lasted quite a while.
Pros: friendly staff, comfy chairs, great $10 10-minute extra foot/leg rub, supposed to be only $25
Cons: it was $6 EXTRA to buff my nails instead of polish them. And she didn't buff them very well - maybe 2 minutes, if you have dry feel/calluses there is no special atention paid to that (they do a brisk pumice rub, which left A LOT to be done).
Basically, it ended up costing $41 for a basic pedicure (including the $10 extra I paid for the massage). I left a tad more relaxed, my feel oiled, but with dry heels and an o.k. buff job.

Although I can't speak for any of the other services, I had a forearm wax the other day, and it was the worst experience I have ever had. I have red burn marks all over my arms, peeling skin, and spots that were missed. There are so many places to go for great waxing, that I would never try Jade again.
