General Info:
Humane Society Of New York For over 100 years, the Humane Society of New York has been a presence in New York City, caring for animals in need when illness, injury or homelessness strikes. In 1904 we were founded to protect the city's horses against abuse. Members fought for laws to punish negligent owners and place watering troughs in streets and parks. As funds allowed the Society expanded to include a free medical clinic and a small adoption center for cats and dogs. Today our hospital and our Vladimir Horowitz and Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center help more than 30, 000 dogs and cats annually, and their numbers continue to grow. On any given day the Humane Society of New York is responsible for hundreds of animals with diverse needs. For many, the Society is the only place they will find help:

The vet I saw clearly doesn't like people or animals. He was very cold, condescending and rude. I don't even know why he even decided on this career. He should do something that doesn't involve talking to anyone like an assembly line. I went to find out what a bump was on my 10 year old dog. He showed no concern when he told me it was a tumor. He recommended I get it removed as well as clean his teeth. Scheduling bot... view more

The absolute worst vet care imaginable. I had the misfortune to take my cat to the Humane Soc Clinic on June 28 2013. There I encountered female vet Dr Swartz. No introduction /Good Morning. [I got her name off her coat.] She rudely told me she smelled cigarette smoke on me and that "I should smoke outside". I was not smoking in the clinic. I should have known then and there that this woman was not normal b... view more

They made me wait over half an hour for each of my rabbits when I had them spayed. When I spoke to the doctor about whether the pain meds were included in the cost of the spay at the initial check-up I was told yes and when I picked up my first rabbit from getting spayed I got told that it was extra. When I brought my last rabbit in to be spayed, which all of the procedures were paid in full before the date of servic... view more

AWESOME experience!

Had our puppy spayed here! Reasonable prices compared to local vet. Will return for MicroChip and Health Certificate for Travelling. Would HIGHLY recommend. Every employee is so friendly and helpful!P>S> We were a bit late picking up our puppy due to NYC traffic (about 15/20 min after they close) and they still allowed us in to get her! We will return here, again and again!!!

AAAwesome Place for sure cheap.

This is a great place. The vets (particularly Dr. Z) are very helpful, practical and compassionate. They have lots of great suggestions and don't make you feel like a monster for feeding your pets grocery store cat food like many of the snobby NYC vets do. They are also about 1/3 to 1/10 the price. $35 visits and cheap procedures ($30 neuter/spay). The place is very busy and they get a bit backed up later in th... view more

will NEVER go back to this vet

Dr. Schwartz was the vet I saw. I had so many questions about my newly adopted dog. To most of my questions she answer, ""maybe"" or ""probably"". she barely checked him and made me feel like an idiot for having concerns. he had been coughing, and making noises that sounded like he couldn't breath. he was also biting certain areas of his body until all the hair was gone. she said if could be allergies, but did nothin... view more

the IN humane society

My girlfriend and I adopted a ultra sweet cat from this terrible place. We noticed that the new kitty wasn't eating. We called the society who told us that it was probably stress and not to worry. We then took her to our local vet who tells us that 3 of her teeth were knocked out, roots exposed and a fourth was cracked! We asked if this was recent and he said ""no"". The bill for the repair was $1300 and it was ... view more

Katie-Rude office clerk!

Horrible experience trying to make an appointment with a woman named Katie. She was abrupt and abrassive. She should not be taking telephones calls. She should be stay in the back as not to have to deal with people. She must hate her job and herself. Poor thing!

Best Vet for your pet

Terrific doctors who treat your pet like their own. So affordable and very professional. I brought my dog in for distemper , rabie shots 2 work ups to check for suspected hypothyroid condition and other diseases plus total physical checkup exam and a year supply of heartgard all for under $250. Wow. Again did I mention how amazing the doctors and staff are !! You're foolish to pay the overpriced vets for the same i... view more
