Gravity used to be the best gym in New York but no longer. Their most loyal members were given less than a week’s notice, via email, that the gym was closing for a two month renovation. Not only did everyone who received the email have to scramble to find something else, but many didn’t receive the email and weren’t aware that you closed until they physically came to the club. When questioned, we were told that Gravity had just received the Building Department go ahead so you had to close immediately. Could you have given members notice that you were planning renovations but were waiting for approval and you would keep everyone posted? Next – AFTER receiving your email, many members were charged for the month. Did you need the money more than your members? You also took money for training sessions, knowing you were closing for renovations. The absolute nerve… Many long time Gravity client’s called and wrote but never received an adequate response. Some were told they would receive an extra month but we have yet to have any confirmation. In addition, though the club is open, there are many facilities not available. The workmen are still there, and the dust is unhealthy – making it difficult to breathe. Do you plan on reducing the price until the work has been completed? Now, the renovations – you’ve put the cardio machines into a room that has no air, facing a wall, like every run of the mill gym. Upstairs is so dark, it’s hard to see and everything is crammed into one space. Finally, you took something that had been considered one of the best gym’s in the City and turned it into something awful. You’ve disrespected your loyal membership giving all the feeling you are looking for a different clientele. This isn’t sour grapes – many of us have already left and many more are looking for new gyms. Unfortunate and disappointing!! If you’re looking for a wonderful place to work out, find another gym.

i was looking for a gym in the city and looked in to this place and found out that it is the worst place to gym its a very small gym in a basement everyone that goes there says the staff are not friendly and don't get me started on the hygiene.

Gravity made me a regular gym goer because the atmosphere is friendly, it is not crowded, and the sales team is genuinely helpful. Everyone who works at Gravity has a good attitude and it makes it a pleasant place to be.

Its not even summer yet, but today?s hot and humid weather I said enough is enough and looked for a pool to soak in this summer. \r Hello Gravity Fitness!? after searching around I got a deal ? 3 months of rooftop pool access, 12 massages and 12 private training sessions for $1700. Most of the other places charged that for the pool alone. I can work on getting my own six-pack in the gym and show it off while tanning on the sundeck and then a massage before going out for the night! \r A saltwater pool, lounge chairs, you can even order room service all that?s missing is sand on the floor and a steel drum playing in the background, and I?d think I was back on vacation in Jamaica

My girlfriends and I have been members of both Equinox and LA Sports Club. We recently decided to join Gravity bc we heard about the Quickie workout from our friend who lost two dress sizes before her wedding. We tried it and we love it!!! At first we were a little sceptical, but after our thrid week we started seeing results and now we can't wait to layout on the sundecks at the rooftop pool. Gravity also has great spin instructors that really motivate you to work hard. Definitely take Maria's and Jennifer's classes. The gym is super clean and has great customer service.

I've been a member of gravity fitness, for a year, it is one of the cleanest gyms I've been to. The machines are great and you rarely have to wait for a machine. The instructors are very nice but are only average and don't look fit. I took an abs class and it was so easy. The gym isn't challenging, the music they play elevator music in the gym so there is no energy at all. you have to constantly motivate yourself because you can't look around, and be motivated. The Reebok Fitness, NYSC, Gold's Gym energy is definitely missing.

I recently joined the Quickie. The trainers are great and full of information and help. it's never really that crowded and it's not muscle head gym at all. I've been to almost every chain of gym in the city and Gravity far surpasses them. It feels more like a spa than a gym.

I never worked out, no time or inclination, until a friend of mine who was a gravity member for years, told me about this 27 minute work out 2 or 3 times a week max. It really has worked! There is always a trainer on the floor who will both help, and push you to work harder. I actually look forward to going. The facilities are great, the staff is super friendly, and all the equipment (including the computer tracking system) are top notch. Ask for Wayne, he is a sincere and low pressure sales guy.

I have been a member of gravity before they received the press they now get. I feel like I choose a great place to workout, because of this!!! I love the gym and have been a member for six years. I love all the free towels and the trainers. They all know my name, The locker room is clean, but they don't have steam. Thats my one complaint.

I really enjoy the classes they offer. I love Pilates and the long spin class. The staff is always so nice.

ive recently taken up a free one week membership and found the gym to rarely be packed with people, and have found my self never waiting for a machine, even during peak times. the lack of people make it a much nicer place to work out at. Tucked away in the basement of the parker meridien hotel, it is not well known in the neighborhood, especially being across from HRC. I would reccomend this gym.
