WARNING THEY DILUTE THEIR ALCOHOL!!

So I decided to give a new bar a try and this place got pretty good reviews.. I'm a recent college grad that goes out in the city every weekend and I used to bartend so I know a good bar when I see one.. I can see how this can be a fun bar, with the good DJ and all, but they dilute their alcohol. I told the bartender that my last $9 drink had no alcohol in it and so I saw him pour almost the entire glass full of tequila and a splash of sprite and the drink still only tasted like sprite. I know most bars dilute their alcohol but this is RIDICULOUS ... DO NOT go there unless you want to spend $9 on water

College Vibe Without 23 Year Olds

I love bars that play Miley Cyrus and allow me to dance my pants off - but hate being the only person in the bar that is in my mid-twenties, and has a full-time job. Gatsby's is the place that plays great music and doesn't make a 25 year old feel like they are the oldest person in the bar. If you want to listen to Black Eyed Peas with Footloose tossed in, Gatsby's should be on your to-do list. For the party-poopers, there is also plenty of seating so people can relax in between songs.

Dont know about anybody else but I had a great time here last night. \r \r Bouncers were friendly, music was pumping, bartenders were fast and the drinks were strong. What more can you want?? Oh yeah girls!! There were plenty, some girl was having her birthday party here and all of her friends were HOT. \r \r Our waitress was drop dead gorgeous as well. \r \r Had such a good time that im booking my birthday here!

My friends and I always end up stopping by this place a few times a month. Happy hour is always fun and chill and we always end up dancing the night away if we come late at night. We just love the atmosphere. The staff is really friendly. Great place in a great area... love it!!

Had a blast last night

We had a table reserved for my birthday party in the back, this place was so much fun, there was a DJ and he was playing a little bit of every type of music and he even took requests from us which was great! I forgot my purse in the bathroom I went up to the bar to ask if someone had found it my night was almost ruined, and they had it with all my stuff still in it, I was so happy! The place was packed and we danced the night away I will definitely be going back here again!!

So I went to gatsby's the other day and I had a great time. I was able to watch my cardinals in action which is always good being in the big apple and I had beer that wasn't too expensive which is always something I love. The only drawback was there was no shepherds pie but the vast amount of choices for food made up for it. Check it out sometime, everyone loves it.

What a wonderful time I had in Gatsby's last sat nite! Music was awesome, couldn't stop dancing! the DJ played one great song after another, including new tracks and old crowd-pleasers. The bartenders are hot and super friendly. I was surprised that I was served drinks so fast, considering the big crowd of thirsty drinkers of all ages! I didn't encounter not one rude person, everyone was super nice, including the security guys. Hard to believe that the bouncers could attack anyone, they seem very polite. I would strongly recommend Gatsby's- a lot of good-looking guys, friendly staff and cheap drinks- why not go? It's in SoHo!!!

WORST PLACE EVER!

I was part of the group of girls that SCARED (review below) is referring to and she is exactly 100% correct. I would NEVER EVER in my life go back to this bar. This was the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened (and I have lived in NYC for over 6 years). A HUGE bouncer (with clearly nothing better to do then harass a group of girls) came up to us and started yelling (for no reason). When one of us told him we were leaving, he said, “Then leave” and then pushed my friend against the wall. He pushed her so hard that she has a scratch and a few bruises on her arm. My other friend came to our friend’s defense and pushed the HUGE bouncer off of her. The bouncer then proceeded to pick her up and drag her out of the bar (as if she could not walk). He did this with so much power that he hurt my friend’s ribs! My friends were so scared of the situation that they were shaking and crying. The manager did NOTHING to help us out with this situation (just stood there like a huge moron). The bouncers that were standing outside just smirked during this whole time (even when a young man that was not part of our group walked outside and said “I just saw a huge bouncer attack 2 girls!”). Clearly this bar hires the WORST BOUNCERS IN HISTORY and then when the BOUNCER ATTACKS GIRLS they let it be, as if it is normal protocol. As a young woman I was terrified of this man. I WILL NEVER EVER RETURN TO THIS BAR. WORST PLACE EVER!!!!

This bar attracts the most vile crowd. The bar tenders don't seem to cut people off, seeing as the patrons leave the bar shouting and fighting. Perhaps the bathroom is not working, seeing as the patrons feel the need to relieve themselves on the doors of the apartment buildings in the area. The crowd that goes there is the beer-bellied 24-45 year-old who never got over their frat days. It seems that there is even a dress code for the men: a big, sweaty, blue and white striped shirt that is untucked, ill fitting boot-cut jeans, and boat shoes with no socks. There are very rarely any girls in there, perhaps this is because females might get in the way of all the sweaty bro-hugs.

Was brought to the bar by a friend who lived around the corner on a sat night. Bar was fairly crowded with a mix of locals and a young to mid 20's crowd. It was easy to get a drink and there was ample room to either sit at a table or stand. Good music and I'd say the ratio of guys to girls was 1:1. Would go again

Awesome Place! We were in New York City for the weekend and wanted to go for a few drinks to catch up on the Olympics. The food was pretty good and they have a very extensive selection of beers to choose from. Our bartender Danielle was great. Even though she was busy, it didn't keep her from attending well to our needs. The staff was extremely fast and friendly. At some point during the night the DJ started playing great music, some which included songs from the 80's and 90's. Great Mix!!! We ended up staying there all night. Gatsby's is the place to be!

WASTE OF TIME AND SPACE

In this pleasant and mostly quiet neighborhood few places refuse to comply and completely ruin the vibe. Gatsby's is one of them. The name is an insult, Fitzgerald would be rolling over in his grave. Rude bouncers, loud drunk people on the street, and regular bar fights. This place belongs in time square, not residential SOHO. Very boring inside and corporate. Go to the meatpacking district if you want this experience.

It was my 23rd birthday this Saturday and I was looking all over for a party location. Who knew finding the perfect bar in NYC would be so hard! Between the cover fees, reservation fees, and lines circling the block I thought I'd never find the right place. Then my friend told me about Gatsby's. I read the reviews on here and thought it sounded like the perfect place. I was so right!! From the moment I called I knew this was going to be a great experience. Everyone that works there is super friendly!!! My party showed up at 9pm and Beatles music was playing. What a great way to start the night. We were 40ppl and we had 3 tables (no hidden fees - plenty of room!). By the end of the night the bar was packed and all of our favorite 80s music was playing which kept us dancing way past 2am. I would HIGHLY recommend this bar for anyone looking for a great night out, especially if you're throwing a party! Plus, you definitely get what you pay for with the drinks! Plenty strong :) Not to mention the fact that even though the bar was crowded, none of my friends had any trouble getting in to the party. GO HERE!!!

Great Chicken Tenders

I went to meet a friend who lives near Gatsbys so thats where we ended up! We had a few drinks and a few apps, It was usual Pub Grub but i'd recommend the Tenders! Our Waitress was great, it was busy and she was still on top of everything. I work in the business so it was great to see people who really looked liked they enjoyed being there even though they were working! I'd def recommend Gatsbys!

Was at Gatsbys for my friends birthday a few weekends ago and we had an awesome nite! They reserved an area for us at no charge. They Dj played a mix of all music and he even took requests which is rare. the drinks were normal priced and our waitress was very attentive as was the bartender in our area. \r We're heading back for March Madness cos they have alot of plasma tvs.

I have NEVER been compelled to write a review before. I take the good with the bad...part of living in nyc is finding that perfect spot for every occasion...WELL, Gatsby's is the perfect place if you ARE a regular. I live in the neighborhood and went on a Saturday night to have one last drink. As my friends and I were half way through our beer a big tough guy, who proceeded to tell us that bar is ""his house"" because he is there 7 days a week and wishes to stand where we were hanging out...he was obviously on something else, other than alcohol (it doesn't take being in the medical profession, which I am) to figure it out. He pushed my male friend and slapped me in the face!!!! \r Now, yes freak things happen at bars and yes you encounter rude people everywhere...but getting slapped in the face by a dude unfortunately wasn't the WORST part of this bar....\r The doorman heard the commotion and asked my friends and I to move to the other side of the bar so that ""the regular"" can be where he wanted or to LEAVE the bar!!!! When he found out I was slapped by a guy...this is what he said...\r ""I am just trying to do my job ok, he is here everyday, I am not going to kick him out, please just go home""\r \r Usually one for second and even third chances, I will NEVER set foot in this bar again.\r \r \r

I've become a regular here now and I have to say I still love coming here. The bartenders have changed a bit but its still the same great atmosphere and welcoming faces. The weekends are also still good with a lot of people hanging out, even in the bars that are close by. I also love that they brought the shepards pie back! Thank You!!!

Great Night Out

Was at Gatsby's this past Saturday night for my friend's 21st birthday. We were able to reserve an area for about 15 of us and it was all ready when we got there around 11. The service was on point, drinks were great, music was pretty good (we certainly danced all night long to it!) My friend had a great birthday and all of us really enjoyed ourselves. We all agreed we'd love to go back there often and soon. Definitely highly recommended!
