I normally don't eat in the Times Square area when I head into the city. Can't expect much in a tourist area. But I had treated a guest to an exhibit and it made sense to eat nearby. Even with my lowered expectations, I was still disappointed in my dining experience. While the servers are friendly enough, they're really just order takers and food runners. Our server delivered my filet mignon, clearly without checking if it was cooked as I ordered it. I asked for medium, and it came out almost raw. In fairness, it was seasoned well and the outer portion was tasty, but the inside was the worst cut of filet I've ever had...anywhere. Lots of fat and very tough to cut. At no point did the server visit the table to check on our satisfaction. We poured our own wine. Not a big deal, really, but nicer places add that touch. The decor was mundane and the space very cramped. The coffee station was out in plain view, right next to a table of diners. The pictures on the wall included the standard fare of autographed celebs, but I think the most recent one was from 1980. Seriously, it was so obvious that this restaurant believes every patron is a one-time visitor, and they have no interest in making a good impression.

One of the worst dining experiences of my life.\r \r 6 of us went here for my parents' 40th anniversary and they kept serving my brother after we had finished each course.\r \r He got his oysters very late and then his t-bone came out 15 min after the rest of us got our food - he ordered medium and it was very, very rare. After 2 more tries he switched to a sirloin and it too was way too underdone. By this time the rest of us had finished our meal\r \r To make things worse, Peter, the manager was uncaring and disrespectful. \r \r The waiter was gracious enough to offer to take the uneaten steak off the bill (like I would have paid for it anyway) and offered us a glass of wine and a piece of cheesecake for the anniversary. Big deal.\r \r This place should be avoided, there are a ton of other really good steakhouses in the city (Quality Meats, Del Frisco's, Keens). It's a dinosaur that should be extinct.

Went to the 45th street location before a show. This was my first time there at Frankie and Johnnies and it will be my last. Im a New Yorker not a tourist and i like a place with character but this was DIRTY. The seats were filthy, there was no AC on and the wall unti was 100 years old and the place wascovered in dust everywhere. For the kind of money they charge for a steak with no veggie, salad or potato they can afford to have someone clean the dirt that is everywhere.\r I had a Filet Mignon and lobster tail and the scalloped potatoes. The Lobster tail was small and tough. The steak was good but they undercooked it and it had to be sent back, by a long shot. The potatoes were part raw. They were awful. Everything seemed very plain with no spices and no sauces to be found anywhere. Also, its very expensive considering the food isnt very good. It was busy but i suppose that is due to the fact that people want to eat close to the theatre district. \r The service was good but the waiters are older then the dirt on the lamps, and they seem unhappy to be there at all. \r Again it was stiffling hot with little AC to be had, and cramped so close to other tables that you could not have a private conversation if you wanted to. \r \r 200$ inlcuded 2 drinks, 2 dinners, 1 salad, 1 potato dish and oh yes, the cheesecake that they opened from a box of sara lee. Half frozen and tasteless. \r Im not that picky either ! \r Wont be going back there anytime soon.

We made reservations at 8pm and arrived a few minutes early, which was good as the place filled up within 20 minutes. Interior is small, warm, cozy and romantic. The filet mignon was tender, juicy, tasty and required no steak sauce. Absolutely the best we have ever had. \r The wait-staff was nice but slow on the drink re-fills. However, that seemed to be the norm at numerous other restaurants as well.

Oh my gosh - By far the best steak and salmon my husband and I have enjoyed in a long time. The food was great. The setting feels kind of like a scene out of GoodFellas. Experienced waiters in tuxes and stellar, consistent, traditional wait service. Our most unique and talked about dining experience on our first trip to NY. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly and I honestly can't describe how perfect my piece of salmon was. I'm craving it again right now and it's 9 AM.

This second floor restaurant had good reviews on this site. What were you thinking, people? The $82 porterhouse steak stunk - LITERALLY! When they brought it, I immediately started looking around and stiffing the air like a dog, since there aroma resembled nothing less than stale gym socks left in the gym bag for weeks. The asparagus and the mushroom caps had no taste of any kind. The waiter was rude to us at the door when we walked in, but warmed up when I ordered the porterhouse - what a ****! If you end up going there (big mistake), stay away from the waiter with the big mole on his face.\r Worst steak in New York - by far. Try Old Homstead or Peter Lugars, Sparks... DO NOT GO HERE!

We wanted steak and we wanted it right away. Despite our spontaneous craving, we were looking for a romantic setting. The lighting was good and the tables are not too close together. However; our experience was a bit rough at first due to extremely loud and crude obnoxious bankers and tourists, but a cocktail helped us ignore them. The service was extremely courteous, and even generous. Our seafood apps were fresh and tasty and my ribeye was rich and fulfilling. Steak craving -- satsified. This restaurant is expensive, but you are certainly getting what you pay for.

We've been there a few times and everytime it just seems to get better. Their surf and turf is very yummy. Succulent lobster and mouth watering filet mignon! My husband's rib-eye was to die for, buttery, tender and awesome flavor! The decor was very interesting. Seems like someone's cool loft or a dressing room at some point. Hence the theater district! Had a wonderful time! Can't wait to go back!

I took my girlfriend to see Chicago and after we went into Frankie and Johnnies for something to eat. Was not expecting to have the amazing dinner that we did! I ordered the surf and turf and mashed potatoes and my girlfriend ordered the lobster tails. We both left with our stomachs full and big smiles on our faces. We are going to go back to try some of the other items on the menu tonight.

I went there for restaurant week w/my friends. service was ok, I asked for a glass of water w/no ice 5 times from 4 different ppl and each and every time I got water w/ice. Other then that the service was fine. Food was ok. Felt they were overpriced for what they offered. Ive had better elsewhere. I didnt get the steak but if I do go again I wil try the steak. My friends got it and said it was alright. Would only go back to try the steak (but I know there plently of other good steak houses in the city). Other then that would not go back.

I recent went to Frankie and Johnnies Steakhouse and I was definitely impressed. The sirloin steak was amazing and the proportions huge! I really enjoyed the history of the place, with all the pictures of old celebs on the walls. And our server was great, he was very attentative. I will definitely be back for more.

After several visits I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Frankie and Johnnies. I look forward to return trips with eager anticipation. No other steakhouse in Manhattan can beat Frankie and Johnnies. The service is warm and professional while the food is out of this world. I went with my family and we all ordered different things from the menu: porterhouse for two, sirloin, pork chops and even shrimp scampi. The sides and the bread were just as mouth watering as the dinners! Everyone was beyond happy with their dinner. Two thumbs up!

I brought my girl into the city for a night of good eats and the theatre. Frankie & Johnnie's made my night! Not only did we get limo service to and from the restaurant - but the dinner was amazing. If it was up to me, I would have rathered to stay there all night then go to the play!

I must start off by saying that my boyfriend THINKS he works for Zagat. We go out and he critiques. No matter what, he always has something to say - something could have been better. Frankie & Johnnie's silenced the critique. He did not have a single complaint! THANK YOU! The food was phenominal, service on-point and the limo service put this place off the charts. This is my new favorite place! I am so glad I decided to check it out.

Me and my friends went here for dinner on Saturday. Food was great, atmosphere was terrific, real old school New York. Felt like we were in a movie or something. Server was very cool to us and didn't rush us out.

The speakeasy setup is so cool. I felt like I was part of old New York. The waiters were chatty and provided great service. T-bone steak was amazing. This is a cool place with great food. I Highly reccomend it.

Went here for dinner last week. The food was great, as always. Really you can't get a better steak than Frankie and Johnnie's. THE BEST in town.
