General Info:
East Side Animal HospitalThe East Side Side Animal Hospital has been serving the New York community for over 40 years. Since 1993, Dr. Keith Manning has been the owner and director, expanding the services and making "East Side" the animal hospital for the 21st century. In addition to Dr. Manning, East Side Animal Hospital has two other full time veterinarians, Dr.'s Catherine Reid and Danielle Hammer. Also on staff are our licensed veterinary technicians, desk staff, and kennel and day care personnel. All are experienced, caring members of the East Side Animal Hospital team, whose job it is to provide your animals with quality care in a state-of-the-art, yet nurturing environment. East Side Animal Hospital is a full-service, small animal facility that encompasses examinations, vaccinations, major and minor medical conditions, surgery, dental health, ultrasounds, in-house lab tests for emergency evaluations, boarding and grooming. Exotic animals are not unusual around our office either. We treat hamsters, rabbits, turtles, iguanas, guinea pigs and other out-of-the-ordinary creatures. The East Side Animal Hospital works with adoption groups such as B.A.R.C., F.O.A., Woof, Muffins, and helps groups like NY SAVE ( of which Dr. Manning is a founding member ), a foundation that helps impoverished individuals with veterinary emergencies. Boarding and grooming are also part of East Side Animal Hospital life. Our grooming and full-service boarding facility, with an enclosed outdoor backyard, are all under the supervision of our veterinarians, making both services very comforting to our clients. Call or come in for a visit. We look forward to seeing you!

Overpriced and incompetent

I brought my 2 year old Pug on recommendation from the pet store where I got my dog. This place was easily 20% more than anywhere else I went. They told me my dog needed knee surgery right away. I brought my dog to Bergh for a second opinion and my dog doesn't need surgery. I think East Side tries to build up the charges at the expense of owners and their animals.

Unfriendly and Expensive

I would not recommend East Side Animal Hospital to anyone. Our dog came down with what we thought was a UTI over a weekend and we quickly tried to find a vet in the NYC area as we had just moved. We brought our dog to East Side and overall the visit was ok, but, their follow-up was extremely disappointing. Instead of calling us with our dog's culture results, they made us call them several times until the results were in. I was told after my first attempt to call for her results that a vet would call me back ASAP. I never heard back so continued to call in hopes that I would get through to a vet. In addition, when I finally reached a vet who had our dog's culture results, he was impatient and rushed me off the phone. Not only did he talk to me like I was an idiot, but he quickly glossed over my questions and made me feel like asking questions was annoying. I asked several times about side-effects of an antibiotic my dog was taking and his voice became very edgy as if I was offending him in some way. Having studied at the most prestigious vet school in the United States, I can easily say that East Side Animal Hospital is a poor choice for anyone who loves their pet.

Best Veterinarian Clinic in NYC!!!!!!!!!!

\nI have been to many Vets in NY. Dr Manning is incredibly caring and kind. My golden, Dakota was treated by him for 13 years. When she had to be put to sleep, Dr Dipolo came in on a Sunday and held my hand and\nreally cared for my dear Dakota and for me. They are loving and caring. Yes, they are expensive like other\nVets, but in the end you get more than you paid for. When I adopted Wally my rescue Daschund, Dr Manning\nhelped me with knowing how to take care of this small breed and turned me on to the best behavior therapist, since he had been abused and run over by a car. I dont know how anyone could not honor their expertise and\nwarm bedside manner. I have never ever had a issue. Highly recommend to anyone.

Great vet!

They took good care of my dog. He came in as he got giardia at a kennel and the staff took good care of him.

Best Vet I have ever had

I definitely recommend East Side Animal Hospital, especially Dr. Manning. My 8 year old Shih Tzu had slipped a disk in his back, and I thought for sure he would need expensive surgery from talking to other vets. While Dr. Manning said that was a course of action of last resort, he recommended a less invasive (and less expensive) course of treatment, and Hunter was able to avoid the surgery. Now he is back to his old playful self. Thanks East Side Animal Hospital!

I love Dr. Manning

\nDr, Manning is the most wonderful, available and caring vet I have ever met. I have been a dog owner my entire life - and no other Vet has been so accessible - He even called me from his vacation last week when I found a worm in my dogs stool - not an emergency - but Dr. M called me directly to discuss the treatment. I wish my medical doctor was as available. Dr. M called in a prescription and my dog is better

The best vet ever!!!

I love this practice --- they are so friendly and accomodating when I bring my puppy dog. Dr. Manning is the kindest, most thorough and sincere doctor that I have met. He takes the time to explain everything to me. He was the only doctor - and I saw MANY - that was able to cure my dogs skin ailments - I am forever grateful .\n\n

wonderful practice

I have a very happy cat thanks to East Side Animal Hospital. After being lethargic for 3 days I brought my 13 year old cat in to see Dr. Manning. After going over the history and doing a thorough exam he found my cat to have back pain. He told me that it must have hurt itself jumping, and was probably having some arthritis as well. He proceded to give it an injection for the pain and send me home with medication for the arthritis - not only was the cat back to himself the next day, but he jumped up on the counter for the first time in weeks.\nI have continued on the liquid medication, which is so easy for my cat to take, and now he's like a kitten again.

Avoid the boarding facilities, dog died on there watch

We took our small poodle to board with the hospital for three days. Our first time boarding with ESAH. They claim our dog ""got sick"" the day before and the next morning when they checked on him, he was critical, somehow he got fluid in his lungs, through out the day the doctors worked on him but could not save his life. I believe the boarding facilities were lazy in monitoring our dog. They didn't call us until our dog was already so critical, there was a strong possibility he will die. Something happened to our poodle in their boarding facilities that caused him to aspirate fluid in to his lungs. Something went wrong and they don't have answers.
