if it were possible to give 0 stars i would. this is a new low - they actually stole from me. they deliberately failed to check in my vehicle return until the following day, resulting in me being charged an extra $250 on my credit card, and refuse to respond to any phone call, email or office visit about the incident afterwards. do yourself a favour - stay away from these crooks and rent from somewhere else

Extra $55 daily fee for BK address!

We should have checked Citysearch first... after making a reservation on their website, we went into the store to pick up our car and found out that they charge an extra $55 ""surcharge"" for Brooklyn residents (based on the address on your driver's license). Not only is this a huge ""surcharge"" (it doubled our daily rate), it also is hidden in the fine print (i.e., they don't tell you about it until you arrive at the office). The fee by borough is completely arbitrary. The agent told us it was based on car theft rates but people who live in Manhattan are not charged this fee no matter where they drive the car and it didn't matter that we were taking the car to CT. Lastly, they expect you to pay another fee for insurance as well - isn't car theft covered by insurance? Do NOT rent from Dollar!

$110 extra charge for Brooklyn Residents

Apparently Brooklyn is a 'high theft' area, which although we were not actually driving the car in Brooklyn, was an issue. As Brooklyn registered drivers, were charged an extra $110, when we went to pick up the car. Somehow we should have known this according to them, although our reservation was quoted without this fee. Plus they didn't have the mid size car we reserved (as we were three people traveling), and had to take a compact car, with no reimbursement. And all of this came with an extra helping of attitude as well.
