Booked a room for my folks for my dad's birthday. No hangers in the closets, and nobody could bring hangers that would hang on the rail. The reading lamps were broken. There are exposed steam heat pipes on the floor close to the bed, and dad burned his foot badly. I always read these reviews when I am trying to decide on a hotel during my frequent stays in NYC. I am always on a tight budget and my only real requirement in a hotel is that I have my own private bathroom. I stayed here in August of 2002 and in March of 2003 and was satisfied with my stay. First, we didn't have a remote control for the television, then we got greeted with a non-English speaking janitor at midnight, telling us through broken English to try one of three remotes to see which one will work. The lobby is small and ugly, and service is substandard. Also, there are few places to eat in the neighborhood, relatively speaking. Plus, it's the worst cable tv stations known to man.
