On May 1, 1975, Silvano Marchetto opened the doors to what was to become one of the most successful restaurants in New York history. Silvano reinvented Italian restaurants by introducing New Yorkers to Cucina Toscana (true Tuscan food) while injecting a rock 'n' roll energy filled with everything that is Downtown cool. The amazing food, the fashionably fabulous customers, and the entertaining environment make Da Silvano a favorite for many. Whether colleagues come to discuss deals over lunch, first dates come to fall in love over dinner, or friends come to enjoy the sidewalk people-watching on a warm evening, few leave without lasting memories.Serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, the restaurant is always bustling, and continually offers new and innovative menu specials. In the warmer months during Spring, Summer and Fall, the restaurant's large sidewalk café is the perfect spot to wine and dine with friends and family while taking part in some of the best people watching in Manhattan.

Sitting outside watching people go by while enjoying a wonderful glass of wine and a delicious entree - what could be better? The prices could be lower. Well, because the food is so good and the staff is polite, it is worth it. The presence of the owner with the affable personality and pony tail makes you feel welcome and important. Celebrities flock to this restaurant.
If you want to see celebrities and be seen this is the place! However, the most important thing other than the ambience is the food. It is always good and served with a smile. Jaded New Yorkers hardly notice Yoko Ono and son at the next table. The pastas are excellent. Al dente. There is a wonderful wine selection, but a bit steep. All in all it's a welcoming place! Go! Eat!
My husband and I are from Baltimore and we often dine at Da Silvano when we come into the city. ?It's our favorite place. ?We love the food, the service
and the atmosphere.

Last week we were heading up to Maine, driving along the turnpike, when the mood for Da Silvano's struck. ?We called ahead and made a detour. ?We were joined by our 9 year old daughter.

As usual we were seated immediately by a lovely, attentive waiter. ?From our table the street was very visible and our daughter suddenly remarked that
she thought she saw a ""famous"" person come into the restaurant. ?She did indeed. A very well-known woman and an equally well-known man were also
dining at Da Silvano that afternoon and they were seated right next to us.

What made the afternoon special for us was that in spite of the high profile table next to us, our waiter (and indeed the entire staff) treated our
family like we were their best customers.

A delicious, memorable meal served by lovely people.
I'm not one for reviews but I had an excellent meal at Da Silvano. Everything from my salad to my appetizer to my main course was very tasty. I've only been there once but would definitely go back again.
I've heard about Da Silvano many times from friends but had never been. We went recently on a nice evening and sat outside. The service was good but the food was REALLY good. We stayed a bit after dinner to enjoy a bottle of wine and watch the people go by. Had a great time!
