I enjoyed my time at the restaurant but my meat that I ordered was some type of sizzling mystery meat. It tasted like rubber from a horror movie, It was prepared rather quickly but I could not eat it it.

Service was not timely. Seems as if the waitress or waiter was in a hurry. I ordered tacos chicken and beef. Both came back cold. I asked if that was the way it was supposed to be. No we will get you another and it came out just as cold. If I wanted a taco salad that is what I would have ordered. Chips, salsa and drinks are their forte. So beware!

Awful place. Tortilla chips deep fried and dripping in really rank oil. Ordered vegetable fajitas for $16.99. Was given a portion of grilled veggies, 1 carrot, 6 green beans, 3 slices of courgette and some strips of onion nothing else at all with it. Tasted bland had no spices or flavouring! Partner ordered steak tacos $16.49. You had to search to find any steak, Was dripping in grease and was such a small portion it wouldnt feed a small child. Was so bad he left more than he ate. Ladies toilets were disgusting loo roll everywhere **** up the walls, no locks on doors and flush not working in some. Worse restaurant I have ever been to, avoid!

This is not my first visit to a Chevy's, but this by far my worst. The restaurant looked great from the sidewalk, and the prospect of mid-day margharita's was wonderful. Everything took a turn for the worse once we committed to sitting down. The restaurant as a whole smelled like a urinal cake in Tijuana. It was strong and putrid. My group felt it would subside over time and it didn't. We ordered 2 rounds of Margarhita's which were quite good, especially the spicy mango. We also ordered Nachos for the table. Mind you this is a tex mex place where nachos should be great, but these nachos were something i'd see in a bar in Canada. Unchopped protein, poor layering, and subpar taste. If you craving Tex Mex, don't count on having a good experience at Chevy's Time Square. You're better off having a Corona and burrito at Chipotle.

Okay, this isn't the nicest place in the world, but the food is good. It's no more heart-attack-inducing than anything else that tastes good in a restaurant, and if you want healthy food then you should just cook your own dinner. Maybe ordering something MEXICAN would aid in judging the quality of food in a mexican restaurant, btw (just a thought).\r \r The turnover in this kind of place is ASSURED to be bad because tips in chain restaurants (especially touristy areas like 42nd St) are horrible, and therefore you have about a 50/50 shot at receiving bad service from a disgruntled employee who is mulling whether or not to quit that night. There are better ways to run a business than allowing that kind of turnover to persist, but nonetheless it's nothing remarkable or unique to Chevy's.\r \r But expecting to get your meal for free because you saw a rodent?! Get real people. It's New York. There isn't a restaurant in the world that doesn't have them AND spend lots of money trying to keep them out. In fact this is true everywhere else in the country as well. Ridiculous reason for getting a meal free, especially if the food was good. How do you justify that - emotional damages?\r \r To sum it up, Chevy's offers tasty food but with only a touch of authenticity (good tamales), annoying music and decor, average too poor service, a great selection of tequilas and nice margaritas, OH and the off change that you will see a rodent run across the floor on it's way to dessert at Bennigan's.

After our 1 hour wait for 3, we got a raw hamburger, not cooked to order, french fries straight from heart attack land. Our server not only couldn't speak english, but was too concerned about her tip that she forgot about my table. Their canner great meat is skirt steak which is short for diaphram, not to mention the dry rice. Their so called ""Fresh Mex'' cuisine looked like it sat around while my friends and I starved and wanted to leave. It's funny that their owner isn't even Mexican. IF I COULD GIVE THEM ZERO STARS, I WOULD!

I went to the place with a friend last night before catching a movie. When we got there the place seemed ok, our drinks came quickly and so did our food. However, halfway through the meal we saw a small rodent running across the floor! right through the middle of the restaurant! this was on the second floor and the place was kind of empty so nobody noticed except for us and a couple next to us. The manager came over and apologized, said it was construction across the street. Did not even offer to give us the meal for free, she just apologized and said they had small problem and were taking care of it. On top of all of that the employees were not friendly at all. Needless to say I will NEVER go back there again.
Last weekend we went to NYC for a day outing and visited the restaurant for late lunch. The staff was great and they seated us right away. Food quality was good for the chain type restaurant. Fair prices keeping NYC in mind.
The food is "alright". Its not the greatest, its not the worst. The wait is usually long unless you go very late.

It was the worst dining experience of my life,.... I was refered to this place by a friend of mine and she told me the food was tasteful, however i never got a chance to eat. I arrived at the place at 2pm i was seated and was given chips, and watery SALSA. For 45 minutes i was waiting for my meal. Two couples that came in 20 minutes after i had arrived was given their food before me. When i seen the first couple get their food i was patient, and said ok let's see how long it will take me to get my food. As i waited i saw the oher couple get thier food, and my order was not that long. After i saw that i got up from my seat and left......It was the WORST DINING EVER, and i would not GLANCE AT THIS PLACE IN BIRDS EYE VEIW! I would not tell anyone to eat here if it was the last place to eat at on earth... oh yeah i went right down the street to Mc Donald's....

Okay guys, here is the truth about the ""fresh mex"" place. I attended a friend's birthday party at this place, and at first sight, it looked like a neat place. Upon leaving an hour and a half later, I decided that I am swearing off this place for the rest of my life. To save you all time, I will compile a small list highlighting my evening. \r \r 1) Their ""Spicy Wings"" for $10 are not spicy at all. There is no sauce whatsoever on them. The waitress even told us this fact when we ordered them. She said she would bring us some of their special hot sauce to dip them in. The hot sauce tasted like melon with black pepper in it, and this description comes from 10 different people. \r \r 2) They have NO TABASCO SAUCE IN THE PLACE!!\r \r 3) Their ""el diablo"" (spicy sauce) is marinara sauce.\r \r 4) Their $10 martini was lime juice with a splash of tequila.\r \r 5) Their meat platter was bland, dry, and waaaaay overpriced.\r \r 6) Their jack cheese is not jack at all. It's cheddar. \r \r 7) The cornmeal was the best part of the meal. That is why it got a .5 rating from me instead of a 0.\r \r 8) The service was absolutely terrible - We were the first people to order, the last to receive food, and the appetizer came with the main meal.\r \r 9) 2 of my friends were ill afterwards.\r \r Do not go here. If you want Mexican food, please, find someplace that is worthy of calling itself that or go to your local supermarket and buy a mexican TV dinner. You'll be better off.

We just needed to kil time before the movie but the drinks were great, service was decent and the food was really good

I have been to Chevy's a number of times and I'm not sure why. I am definately not coming any more. There is no vegetarian food on the menu. When I have asked for the vegetarian option on the nachos, each time they add some meat thing to it. It is a very unsatisfying dining experience and I leave angier than before.

Being from texas.... If you want bad food, with bad service, in an average setting, this place is for you. When we went, we ordered drinks, which eventually came after the food was served, one person was brought the wrong dish, the rice seemed liked it was scraped off the bottom of a large vat, half of the chips were undercooked, and the waiter seemed overwhelmed. When I go out to eat, I can usually give a place a break or two, but when they continuously get things wrong over the whole course of the meal, you know that you made a bad mistake in going there. This is definately a place I will never eat at again, and would hate for someone else to have to go through that.

Went here as a last resort...our waitor wasn't particularly friendly, but he did a good job! There is virtually no vegetarian selection (alright, I lied...2 things), and one of the reasons we went there was because Mexican normally has tons of choices for vegetarians! The atmosphere was fun, food was OK...but I definitely wouldn't recommend it!

1)Service was terrible (slow, not friendly) 2)Food is a tad expensive, especially with the plethora of great Tex/Mex restaurants in NYC 3)When we complained on our way out, they seemed apathetic

the margaritas were quite good, although it took forever and a day to get the waiters attention when we were ready for round 2...the fajitas are pretty good, if dining is for two id suggest getting one order of chicken or steak fajitas, one of veggie & sharing, it makes for a nice meal...not the best ive ever had, but this isnt the southwest!

This is big corporate chain dining at it's worst. The food is really basic and ok (but that'd be hard to screw up since most of these places are sent the prepackaed food) - but the service was HORRENDOUS. My friend's glass was cracked and it took forever to get the waitress' attention to get a new glass. And we got the first thing we asked for after our meal was done (which was water for everyone at the table). Also, I just can't understand why the food cost so much. It cost more than any other ""tex mex"" restaurant I've been to. Clearly these places don't care about thier employees because these employees really don't care about working at Chevy's. Go anywhere else instead.

Chain restaurant Mexican food with little taste and atmosphere. Stay away and leave it to the tourists.

My mistake = giving this place a chance. Only good thing about our visit was the Appetizer Sampler plate, which was good for satisfying munchies. Chicken Caesar was beyond repair. Hardly any dressing, zero flavor, just awful - couldn't get past 2 bites. Told server to tell manager it was horrific and only received a 30% discount. Drinks not too good either. Service SUCKED. I have worked and eaten at MANY restaurants and had never seen so many servers just standing around doing NADA - with manager right next to them. Save your $.
