The Most Welcoming Hair Salon In the City!

I just found Alice Hair about 7 months ago and it is by far the best hair salon I have ever been to. The moment you walk in, it feels like you are in a different world, with a positive, warm energy that is unlike any salon I have ever been to in NYC. When you walk in, you are warmly welcomed by Juan at the front desk who is so incredibly friendly and gets you anything you need and it just gets better from there! What makes the shop so wonderful are the stylists they have working there. They are down to earth, friendly, talented and really listen to the needs of their clients. Alice styles my hair and there is definitely a reason why she is the shop owner. She has an amazing energy and spirit every time I sit in her chair and is incredibly skilled at what she does. Its the first time I've ever been able to sit in a hair dresser's chair and say, ""cut it however you want"" and she knows how to give me a look that fits my personality. The first time after I got my hair cut, I went directly to a family reunion and everyone told me my hair was nicer than it had ever looked. Thank you Alice for giving me a beautiful hair cut and the confidence to own it. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for an amazing salon experience!

You come in for an appointment and these stylists keep you waiting as if you are a random walk in they are generously fitting in at the last minute. And they overcharge for a basic guy's haircut. There are just too many other options out there to waste your time and money here. They have an air of entitlement that is really absurd, especially for a service the city is literally overflowing with in a less than stellar economy.

275 and up for highlights...ok, they do a good job. 60 if you want to leave the salon with dry hair...fine. tacking on an additional 40 for toner that THEY SAY is REQUIRED for highlights to look good...not cool. The actual toner is a cheap product ( around 7 dollars at beauty supply stores) and the application process is no more complicated than putting on conditioner. They are taking advantage and trying to squeeze $$$ out of each service wherever they can; which is a shame because they do good work. It's low rent and sleazy.

so i went to Alice hair care for the first time yesterday,friend of mine who lives in manhattan goes there for the past 2 years to Emma and i always admired her hair,so i said lets give it a go,i had been goin to a girl down town 4 years and she just didnt listen anymore,so i needed a change,and wow a change i got......ive always got highlights and a trim yesterday i got a new me,from everything to a shampoo to a cut colour and blowout i just felt like a new person,from the min i went in the door until i left i was treated like i was the most important person there,all i have to say is thank u Emma and the rest of the gang(sorry dont know names yet!!!!)See ye in 6 weeks....

I love Alice Hair Care. I have been going there for 6+ years now and I always leave with a smile on my face & great looking hair! All of the stylists are extremely talented & professional. I usually get highlights, cut & blow-dry with Collette every 6 - 8 weeks and its something I really look forward to. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. Collette knows exactly what she's doing and is great with giving little tips & recommendations on taking care of my hair. I am so glad I found this salon. I have recommended it to many friends and they are all satisfied customers of Alice Hair Care too!

I paid a visit to Emma for a recent haircut, thanks to the Yelp reviews. After my experience, I'm happy to say that I'll definitely visit Emma again, and would even if I had to cross town to do so.\r \r I have thick, difficult hair with hidden cowlicks. (Cute, huh?) I'm also really picky about how I want my hair to look, and when I stepped into Alice Hair, I thought I wanted a specific style. Emma took the time to talk to me about what I was looking for, and recommended another direction given the thickness of my hair. I eventually relented and was very pleased at the result.\r \r The prices are extremely reasonable and everyone is so nice. I plan to go back Thanks Emma\r

Just got my hair done at alice hair care!!! i recently just moved to the city and was nervous about where to go for a fantastic new hair colour and cut. well i found the right place!! i was thrilled with the end results of my hair. All the staff was very friendly and polite. Barbara who was stylist was amazing. she took fantastic care of me. i told her i was nervous about being with a new stylist in a new hair salon and she was very reassuring and confident. She explained everything thoroughly and i was felt 100% confident that my hair was going to be amazing. which is was!!! The overall experience was great!!! Barbaras and her assistant offfered me a fabulous conditioning treatment after my colour. i left with fabulous looking and fabulous feeling new hair!!

This is my very first review . Ive always meant to do so but would always forget. Alice Hair Care sent me an email encouraging me to write a review about their business to further their business.\r \r Like others i had to wait awhile for my stylist ( this place is tiny and super busy, which is always a good sign\r \r I got my hair cut with Alice and she did an excellent job. its been almost 2 weeks and i can easily style it myself with the products i also bought there\r \r Will be returning for sure

I just had a baby at NY Presbyterian 6 weeks ago and had a follow up appointment there when my husband rang me and told me that the kids were fine and to take some time for myself so I came across Alice Hair and decided to get my hair done. It was such a good decision! My stylist was Collette and she was fantastic. I kind of knew what I wanted but she knew exactly what would suit my face and coloring and advised me so and the results were brilliant. The salon experience was so nice too, all the girls are so friendly, I'll be going back to Alice for my next trim and re-color

This has been by far my best hair experince in NYC.\r The staff are wonderfull. I am a pretty particular person when it come to my hair. Today, all I wanted was my hair trimmed and highlighted, but keep the length, since I am growing out my hair. The highlights were really to just blend the color at the end of my hair to the new-grown hair(my hair lightens very quickly, and it only needed to be a slight highlight). My biggest concern was having ""striped"" highlights and the risk of having too much cut off. Caroline did my hair and was not only very skillfull, but also he made it a relaxing and enjoyable experience--as it should be!She made beautiful ""caramel and gold"" highlights, snipped here and there and voila!! Beauteous! She is very efficient, polite, and knew exactly what I wanted despite my nervous and reluctant behavior. She styled my hair in a sexy straight coiffure. She did not pressure me into buying any products or trying anything new. The salon had a lot of natural light, relaxing music, and a creative atmosphere. They offered me a drink upon entering and they had magazines to read while waiting. I am new to New York, and thanks to the reviews I read, I found this salon and a new hair home! Thank you,

I have been going here for years. It's a cute little spot but it's very busy and they pass you from one person to another. I understand the life of stylists chatting but that's kind of all they do. They should be giving more customer attention instead of gossiping and not paying attention. I always book with my girl, who's great, however she's working less and less on my personally and I end up tipping about 4-5 different people out at the end of the day and all she's done is given instructions (which are already in my file) to her assistants. And the price isn't the best deal in town. It's a shame that this charming little salon is getting worse rather than better.

I dont understand what everyone is bragging about! I went to this salon wanting to be LIGHT brown and walked out with BLACK HAIR!! I have natural, unprocessed and healthy hair and she REFUSED to dye my hair the color i wanted. I think she simply didnt know what to do. After dying my hair BLACK she literally kicked me out because she didnt want to deal with her mistake and told me to pay close to $150 for something I DIDNT WANT, then asked me to come back next time because she has another client waiting. She kept trying to sell me on highlights THAT I SPECIFICALLY told her i didn't want.It was as if i was talking to a frigging wall!! Common... it's not rocket science! I didn't ask for platinum hair or DNA Color Change, i just wanted a simple color... Stay away!

I decided to give Alice Hair Care a try after getting an unsatisfactory haircut from my normal stylist a few weeks ago. I am very picky about who I allow to cut my hair, and generally spend a good deal of money on my haircuts. I walked in without an appointment, but was very warmly greeted by the staff and only had to wait half an hour before being matched up with Barbara. She was fantastic. I briefly explained the problems I had with my current cut, what I hoping to have had instead, and she perfectly cut and styled my hair to my liking. She really took her time making sure it was done just right, and was incredibly kind as well. I am thrilled with my decision to have given Alice Hair Care a shot, and will most definitely be returning to see Barbara again, particularly given the fact that I spent a third of what I usually do at my normal hair salon.

Been going to Alice Hair Care for nearly 7 years. Had my hair done their for my wedding as well as my makeup. The girls were so nice and I looked Great!! I moved out of the city and still drive down so Caroline can do my cut and color! When I have a formal event to attend I go and get and Up-do. I always walk out feeling Great!!! I was honored at a dance on Friday and had my color done by Caroline, assisted by Clare, Up-do by Emma and Make up done by Natasha. I looked FABULOUS!!! These girls are amazing!!

I got the best highlights ever at Alice Hair! The kind I've been looking for years, but have never found-- until now. Very natural, just like the highlights I had as a little girl. Assistant Kat, overseen by Collette, did a fantastic job selecting and applying the colors, the perfect combination of highlights and lowlights. She also gave me a nice bangs trim and great blowdrying + styling. The salon has a casual atmosphere, but very professional staff-- and some of the best colorists in the city. Offers of bottled water, wine, and tea were much appreciated and a welcoming touch. Overall, I highly recommend Alice Hair!
