JUST IMAGINE...BLOOINGDALES OPEN FOR BUSINESS IN THE GREAT DEPRESSION! WOW...its almost the GREAT DEPRESSION AGAIN! just for side story- that year mom say in 1933- BLOOMINGDALES had a outside store front when you'd get off the 3RD AVE EL TRAIN, and there was a POT BELLY HEATER STOVE, right outside of BLOOMINGDALES STORE before going inside, there was HOT COCO DRINKS is what mom recalls as a kid back then. they at local 1-s are one of the nicest bunch of workers to ever have met very friendly and helpful on the w 31st office every single one from Maintance to the top of the union every body they all rock
As far as department stores in New York go this one is up near the top. Granted it's not Barney's or Henri Bendell but to give yourself a little taste of luxury and escapism Bloomies is a great spot.
