Finally, a reasonably healthy fast food burger restaurant on the UWS! Until a couple years ago, we only had McDonald's. When you walk into Shake Shack, you feel better because you're aware of their eco-friendly marketing campaign. The burgers are 100% All Natural Angus Beef. No Hormones and no antibiotics, ever. The burgers are served on tasty brioche buns and while they're significantly smaller than other restaurant burgers, that's ok. You don't feel too full when you're finished eating. The menu us quite basic: Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Mushroomburger and the Shack Burger. You can also throw in a Flat Top Dog and an order of fries (which aren't the pencil-thin fast food fries) but rather crinkle fries. If you're feeling especially adventurous, there is an overwelming selection of shakes and concretes (i was never able to understand the different). But, beware of very long lines. At lunchtime, the lines are wrapped around a city block. While they do move quickly (and you'll get your fancy vibrating buzzer so you can wait outside), if you're hungry, you will have to wait. And, chances are, you won't get a seat.
My wife and I are fan of Talia’s and we love Talia’s very diversified menu. There is something for everyone on their menus. It's definitely more of American and Middle Eastern cuisines; but they also have terrific salads. My wife loves The Thai beef salad and I love thee Moroccan salmon. If you crave fish, this is the place. You can get a hearty, firm-flesh fish, grilled, sautéed or broiled salmon with two sides and… appetizer for $28. Good prices, portions and wonderful food. I will definitely visit Talia’s more than twice next week to enjoy the nine days menu which contains more than five types of fish. Talia’s 9 days menu last year was one of best nine days menu in kosher restaurant in Manhattan. The service is professional but sometimes you have to wait about half an hour for your main dish and therefore my wife and I start with an appetizer of Middle Eastern platter combo platter - regular hot dog, 1 spicy hot dog, 2 chicken fingers, Moroccan cigar and kibbeh with tahini sauce. The ambiance is very romantic, warm and cozy outdoor and indoor dining areas. Highly recommended!
I arrived home last night with my little sister Dia, filled with Pasta, Garlic bread and energy. Our mother has been stressed by a long hours at work and flight travel recently. So we walked the next block over to "Lucky Strike Lanes" And had a blast! I loved the glow in the dark setting and atmosphere and the staff and workers were all so polite and welcoming. This afternoon, I received an email from my mother saying that when Dia and I returned last night screaming and laughing about how much fun we both had. That it woke her up from her nap. Well, her email said that, If we didn't have any plans for later that she buy the dinner. So we won't have to slave and think about what to have tonight. She wants to hang with Dia and I... at "Lucky Strike Lanes" again! What a way to keep the little family together when you think about it... it's really not falling apart! Love you... Mom!
