This is a great program designed for low income women and their children, age 5 and under... It provides vouchers that you may use at local grocery stores, to buy healthy foods.... It has helped my family...It is NOT welfare...Even when you work hard and receive child support, there may be times when money is stretched so thin - that is when this is a Godsend.
The lady who works the WIC front office is really good - she knows her stuff!
The only downside to WIC is the waiting time spent in the health department waiting area ... It is hot, stuffy, and usually full.. Many parents let their kids yell and run wild.. I guess they don't know any better...or, just don't care... The A/C NEVER comes on... Which I find rather disturbing, considering how UNhealthy that is, with all those people in there ... It is a HEALTH department after all ... Oh well....
Low income, struggling families and single parents, apply for WIC.. You'll be glad you did !!
