One of New Orleans' Best Kept Secrets. Nestled away just walking distance from the famous St Charles Street Car line is Le Roux a Supper Club and Banquet facility that is available for both public and private affairs. During it's earlier years, The famous Nite Cap, once stood where Le Roux now stands and was one on the spot s to give birth to the New Orleans Funk we hear and admire today. "If these wall could talk" you could hear many famous and infamous artists that have grace the stage at this historic site, explains Kurte Pellerin, it's current owner. " From R&B Superstars Stevie Wonder, the groups the Chi Lites, The Manhattans, to countless other local greats like Deacon John, The Meters, and The Nevilles 1700 Louisiana Ave has alway provided an enviroment for great entertainment"' Pellerin continues. In keeping with the tradition, Le Roux now offers Live Entertainment weekly on Friday nites. Dining is also available during shows and reservations are encouraged, but not necessary. There is also now a Restaurant section upstairscalled Ray's on the Roof @ Le Roux that features lunchtime dining. The menu is traditional Soul Food. The area is quaint and has a spacious outdoor deck adjacent to the dining room.

My wife has been a part of this establishment as a customer for a few years amid "Hurricane Katrina", as we were diplaced it behooved us to find another with equivalent services. Needless to say, we could not be satisfied with settling for medeocrisy so it is not a problem to drive 3 hours bi-weekly to have hair done. The atmosphere is professional, the clientel is professional and upstanding; the building is clean and minted; the stylist are pleasant and timely; the owner is exceptional in her operation of this Hair Salon. One can tell that she really enjoys her work and takes pride in each individual work. As a result, women leave this place on the up swing and their walk is definitely with a swagger. In other words: they know they are looking great! At "International Hair Affair" You won't leave their looking like you did when you came in. One definitely gets their monies worth here. Most men complain although we are glad to our wives keep themselves looking exceptional. However, once a man see his wife after she has been under the care of "International Hair Affair" stylist, he will push her to keep every appointment. He will want to obtain such a stunning look on his better half.
One late evening out at Frenchmen's on a rainy night-where the music is great and more of the locals hang out-having spent much time wandering the music venues while ignoring our hungry stomachs, we looked to the bartender for a restaurant suggestion. Knowing we weren't that familiar with the area and were walking, he told us of a couple of places which were close. "But, if you don't mind walking a bit there's a place we all go to after work called Coop's Place..." He was right! We'd been to several places during the several visits to New Orleans from the 5 Star to the funky and Coop's served up the best Cajun food we had ever tried. The Jambalaya was so good, we went back the day we flew out just to pick up an order to go for the classic leftovers at home. The cook even came out to thank us for "the compliment" as we had told the server of our takeout plans. The place is not the suit and tie kind of place but it is a place you can sit and take in the ambiance of outer French Quarter. No, you won't find the finest tableware and starched table cloths, but you will find the finest food of the that region. I can't wait to go again!
I have been a friend and a patron of proprietress Patti Spring at Live Art Studio for over 15 tears. I am still at wonder at how many things are always going on simultaneously at her studio. Don't let the name go unnoticed, as the second you enter this space, there is alot going on, without hitting you over the head with it, and baby, its is truly live. You may enter to get a haircut or a massage, but before you leave, you will also have encountered physical art of of various media such as paintings, sculpture, pottery,(all done by local artists), not to mention one of a kind jewelry created by Patti hersef. The art and jewelry displayed constantly changes, and its always fresh and exhilarating. There are also aromas in abudance, high quality hair products, marvelous soaps and fragrances. Patti is smart, funny, totally at one with the world around her, and I am inspired every time I visit. I truly believe you owe it to yourself to give this wonderful environment a try.
You must ask for Jessica. I've been to many professional hair stylists from Hollywood (I work in the film industry), and Jessica is undoubtably the best. She possesses an immense sense for detail, styles precisely as you so desire. What is she doing in a Megacuts? I should take her under my wing and set up an exclusive shop for her. Self-confident, Jessica has, without a doubt, the personality married with the skill. And believe you me, a decent haircut is hard to come by. But Jessica's work is beyond decent, it's truly wonderful. And by the way, I have no vested investments nor do I know anyone affiliated with Megacuts, but I sure found a gem called Jessica. Not many "no appointment", "off-the-street" hair cutting salons have true, and I mean true professionals! But I found one.
This Salon is wonderful. From the moment I walked in, I knew this is the place for me. The atmosphere is so soothing and elegant. They have a private waiting room with complimentary bottle water and coffee bar. The shampoo room is private and relaxing. I got color and was amazed by their stylish and clean color bar. I didn't feel crammed or stuffy as everything is set up in a spacious flow. The stylists and staff are pleasant and extremely accommodating. I wasn't rushed, the stylist did an excellent job and was very professional yet relaxed. They recently added a private nail room that is also elegant, relaxing, and luxurious. I can't wait to go back and get a manicure and pedicure. I'm telling you, once you go, you will not want to leave. This place is absolutely stunning. I love it.
Excellent salon! Thank you Kelly and Dallas! I felt like a celebrity! The environment is relaxing and spa like. Service was awesome from my initial phone call (to ask if they were comfortable with natural African American hair) to the complimentary beverages and final style. These guys are great. I called and made an appt. because I wanted to switch from my natural state to something sleek for my look that evening. Did I mention I probably have the hair of 2 1/2 persons? They went to work and took the time to blow out and flat iron my hair to soft and shiny perfection! Felt like I was at my home stylist...great conversation and great people. Even my patiently waiting hubby felt at home, he was also thoroughly impressed! Thanks Dallas and Kelly. You are a master at what you do! Debbra & Eric
I typically don't write reviews but this shop Tru Rootz deserves one. Not only did he take my call for a late night appointment but it was after he was CLOSED and worked on my hair until 1am. I explained a few problems that I had. 1) I recently stopped wearing sewins and wanted to wear my hair in a natural hair style. 2) I just couldn't style it and the next day at 9am I had a job interview. I called Tru Rootz and the stylist surprised me and he worked a miracle on my hair. I was very pleased on how my hair turned out. Tru Rootz is one of the best natural hair shops that I've been to in a very long time. I enjoyed the courteous service and the personal touch. This is a Class A shop , the man that gets the job done...and I want to tell him thank you so much and I did get the Job!
I felt really lucky to find this "hidden gem" in the Maison Dupuy Hotel. The room is cozy with big windows that give a great view of the streets outside. In addition to having a wide variety of foods and wines on the menu, the prices were affordable. Our server, Ashlie, was knowledgeable and friendly and recommended the truffle fries and the crab tacos. Outstanding! My date had the crabcake and it was magnificent. And a blueberry waffle for dessert?! Great stuff! In addition, there was a piano player - Paul - who was very talented and entertaining. In addition to fielding our Sinatra requests, he gave a mini-history of New Orleans music. And we loved singing "Ham and Eggs!" Really nice evening at a really nice spot...we'll be back anytime we're in town.
It could use more parking, but the shop is newly remolded and very clean, but I think Sabrina, the stylist is the best thing about the shop. If youre looking for someone who's prompt with fair prices, then give her a try. Sabrina will listen to you and provide the service you request, but at the same time she will give you advice based on years of experience and some pleasant creativity. Her prices are fair and she wont try to trick you into other services that you dont need or want to try to charge you more money. You'll want to just give it to her as a tip because she's nice. If you prefer a divo, ghetto hottie, or mess mouth to do your hair, they have some of those available too, but I cant advise you to become their client. I can honestly say Sabrina has done wonders for me.
