My eight-year-old son has been taking the Kids Krav Maga classes for about two months. He finished their week-long camp about a month ago as well. I cannot be happier with the experience we've had. The instructors provide a great mix of being both understanding, helpful but also strict in instilling discipline. There are classes six-days a week for kids(seven days a week for adults) and he'd probably do all of them if we could swing it with our schedule. He's gaining self-confidence and getting a great workout during these classes. Of course, they've learned things like break-falls, hitting bags, rolls, etc. But the instructors weave in conditioning so the kids think it's a game. Originally, I was concerned about putting my son in any martial arts classes that included striking but I can say that he's been good and kept his striking to the bags during class. I am looking forward to some rough-housing after he attends some more wrestling days (Wednesdays). I anticipate we'll be attending Krav Maga until we move. I got a little jealous watching my son and decided he didn't get to have all the fun. I joined a couple of weeks ago as well. It works out great because there are multiple days a week where the kid's level one class and adult level one class are at the same time. The adult classes are outstanding. They start by getting everyone loose and warmed up (a little fatigued), then they teach techniques which are cemented through drills. You learn a lot and get a great workout. The art is no-nonsense, meant for the real world as it is the fighting system of the Israeli Defense Force. I am very impressed with the program and look forward to every class. I should note that all the more experienced students and instructors have been very welcoming. I think everyone has a little apprehension when they venture into a new group - you can rest assured that everyone will make your accession very comfortable. I cannot Street Smarts Krav Maga enough.
