My parents took us to the old Parkway Bakery most of our life growing up. When I was a young Mother I took my children too! We LOVED it--the old Parkway!!! My whole life every roast beef poboy was judged against those old (very vivid) memories. I can say I was so very disappointed with the "New" Parkway---it's NOTHING like the original----NOTHING!!!!!!! How sad, I can't believe the people that own it now have EVER tasted a REAL Parkway Bakery Roast Beef Poboy!!!!!! I won't be returning. FYI-- the closest to the original is Bear's in Covington.
I don't care what The Food Network says...Parkway serves the best poboy to date. This place is hidden and really hard to find, but when you get there...the treasure unfolds. Another good thing is that they are open every day except Tuesday. Don't go to Domilise or New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood...come here. It's just so mouth watery.
Pretty good Po Boys, I would go back again if in the area.

THIS IS A REVIEW FROM A NEW ORLEANIAN: Locals love it!! Best Poboys in New Orleans (authentic poboys are ONLY in New Orleans). Great taste, value, friendly, etc. Cute ""down to earth"" typical New Orleans neighborhood atmosphere. \r Make sure to get your poboy ""dressed"" (unfamiliar with the term ""dressed"" - lettuce, tomato, mayo & pickle slices).

Man I love this place. Their po'boys are perfect - crunch bread, overstuffed, deliciously dressed. Don't go in nice clothes because you will get messy! The perfect compliment to your sandwich is an icy cold bottled Barq's - you can pop the cap off with one of the bottle openers strategically placed on the walls of the restaurant. The fries are excellent, or grab a bag of Zapp's chips. Complete your meal with a steaming serving of sweet, sticky bread pudding. Does a meal really get any better?
