Went for the Sunday Brunch and was disappointed. Service was bad, food was cold, not worth the money. With so many good restaurants in New Orleans and nearby in the French Quarter, I'm surpised they keep open.
Had a rehearsal dinner cancelled after having it confirmed, and had the date given to another party. Terrible service, nobody in charge, and left without a reservation after having a confirmation by phone. Never even got to eat at the place, but if you are serious about the event you are booking, stay away from the Palace Cafe. There are many good places in New Orleans with better service and more serious about their business.
Our experience at Palace Cafe was not the dining experienced promised that can be surprising in three simple and reasonable points: <br> <br>1. The front of house was incredibly rude upon entry into the restaurant. Instead of being welcomed with a ""Good Evening and welcome to the Palace Restaurant"" a petite woman barked ""Do you have a reservation?"" It was not a polite request, but literally a snobbish demand. We asked if they'd please call us when the table was available as it was an hour's wait, but the request was refused. I'd expect some accommodate from such a high-end reputable establishment. <br> <br>2. We didn't want to leave and decided to stand out the hour at the bar. I was ignored for 5 minutes by one bartender, Rory, (the one directly in front of me) until another bartender saw me and fulfilled my drink order. <br> <br>3. ALL the food serve, was room-temperature or semi-warm. NONE of the dishes were served fresh and hot. This means that they essentially couldn't even reheat soup adequately. <br> <br>However, despite all of the above, we received excellent service from Leonard. While he was assisting our waitress he really shined. Leonard warmed up our bread, brought us extra condiments, was polite and incredibly friendly. He even made us laugh a couple times. <br> <br>The quality of the food was good -- nothing to go wild over, and nothing that was truly terrible. it was ""good"".
My boyfriend and I ate here a few weeks ago. We didn't have a reservation, but were seated promptly. I had checked the website for dresscode specifications and it said 'upscale casual'. There were plenty of people in there in shorts, tshirts, and flip flops. So we definitely felt over dressed. Everything we ordered was good. The waitress was helpful, nice, and always around exactly when we needed her. She was only a little annoying when she gave us a comment card and, almost like a used car salesmen, spoke for a whole 3 minutes about herself and how wonderful she is and that by giving her a good review we would be keeping her from getting fired. Just a little wierd, but I'm a concierge and I always tip too much and NEVER write anything negative on comment cards. Otherwise, it was good. I would like to go back.
The service is top-notch. The cuisine - perfect. Every meal is made and served with great attention to detail and was very tasty. Portion sizes could have been a tad larger. The meal prices were about average for the French Quarter high end restarants, but the drink prices were off the charts! 2 Grey Goose Cosmopolitan's were $28.00 YIKES!!!
Had a wonderful lunch with my husband at Palace Cafe! The place is beautifully decorated, the music is upbeat and fun. The waitstaff was extremely friendly knowledgeable and helpful. The Peters Planters Punch cocktail was the perfectly refreshing cocktail for a warm day. The Creole French Onion soup was soooo good, the andouille in it was a nice surprise. The catfish crepes and the fried oyster salad were wonderful. We will be back again and again ...can't wait to try everything else on the menu!
This restaurant is the total package with flavorful food, fantastic atmoshpere and top notch service. I love this place! Shrimp Tchefuncte - a favorite. Turtle soup - excellent. The salad with fried oysters is superb. Just a few of my favorites that stick out.
We just visited this restaurant tonight. Although we had a reservation at 8:30 it took 30 minutes to seat our party and another 30 minutes for our server to take our order. My dinner order was wrong, and the server argued with me about what I had ordered. Then, after another 20 minutes of waiting I finally had my order but my fellow diners with done with their dinners. We decided to stay for dessert, and I ordered a dessert wine. About 10 minutes after everyone else's desserts were delivered and they had started eating, the server informed me that they were out of the wine I ordered. Not only was there no acknowledgement that any of this was a problem, but nothing was comped on our bill. Lucky for me, I was the one paying the bill. This place was recommended by our hotel and we had great expectations. Big disappointment.
We happen to go there for Sunday Brunch and had to wait for a bit even though we made reservations.. it was very crowded and noisy. The ""band"" a two guy band was playing great music on the stairway and the service was ok.. It was a bit confussing to tell who was who!! We had too many people waiting on us. The apps were ok but somewhat dry. But the REAL KICKER was my dish.. I had a shrimp dish that had some sort of sauce, shrimp, and mushrooms.. BUT the rice after two take backs where CRUNCHY!! We had to tell a Mang that didnt work there but worked at Dicky Brennens.. and he brought my plate back with spagetti to try. He was great but the food was just not so. \r <br>Cant say that i would be back there at all. We have a Brennens here in Houston and this place is not like our Brennens here in Houston..
Don't bother spending your money. As a native New Orleanian, not worth the money. $5.00 per pea. Save your money and spend it at your favorite burger joint. This is NOT and I repeat NOT and NEVER will be New Orleans food. It's not creole it's not New Orleans and it's NOT edible. Wouldn't let me give ZERO Stars\r <br>\r
