Another great NOLA restaurant.... the oysters were out of this world!! Friendly staff, very helpful with recommendations of what was good to eat/ drink... the only negative aspect was that the recommended gratuity is added on as standard onto the bill, eventhough there were only two of us eating together. We have no objection to paying a gratuity, but we...

Our food was quick hot and delicious! Our server,I don't remember her name"" was awesome. She always had a big smile and was super helpful.

The food was outstanding and new to my wife and I. The waitress Jamie was extremely friendly and encouraged us to try adding fried crayfish to our Mardi gras pasta which made it even more amazing. She even acted as an impromptu tour guide and directed us to less touristy places that felt more authentic. The crab cakes were also to die for. I will definitely be coming back here. 5 stars. If you go be sure to ask for Jamie.

I came here while taking a trip across america from California to New Jersey. Amazingly, we found this place open late at night at 12 am. I was so hungry, but wasn't sure what to get. We ordered the triple platter dish that had Gumbo, etouffee, and something else.

My brother in law told us about this restaurant and it is in a great location in the French Quarter. I really liked it because it had an upscale feel with a casual dress code. I got the shrimp fettucine which had an incredible cream sauce. My husband had the barbeque shrimp (southern style not the usual BBQ shrimp) and he enjoyed it. I would highly recommend!

I happend to stumble upon this place on a hot, humid afternoon last week on my first trip to NOLA. It was the busy, work week lunch hour. I was greeted by friendly faces at the door, promptly seated and immediately served a huge ice cold glass of water. The young waitress was friendly and informative. The decor was cute & cozy and the A/C nice and cool. \r \r When I asked her what she recommended she said the Crab Cakes. I told her I had a big breakfast and had a long walk back so I didn't want anything too heavy. She was kind enough to let me know that the appetizer crabcakes were the same size as the meal without all the sides - Perfect! (She also said they were 90% crab and she wasn't kidding. They had the most crab I have ever seen in a crabcake!) I ordered them and a small Greek salad. \r \r They came out almost immediately, were HUGE and were smothered in the most wonderful gravy that I ate all of it before ever touching the salad! (Which was big and tasty too) I was stuffed to the gills!!! My water was promptly refilled during my meal and my empty plates promptly removed (all w/o asking). All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. This is a casual little place, tucked away just off Boubon St that you just have to try if you are there. I will definitely be back.\r \r A few notes on past reviews:\r To Jon: Your food server IS mainly to blame for how your evening went. No restaurant dedicates one server to one party - regardless of the size - EVER. It is up to him to coordinate your drink orders, advise a busboy or another server to check on your party when he cannot. He also has to learn how to coordinate your meals with the kitchen and if there was a bit of a wait, HE should have informed you up front. Seems to me if you were pressed for time then you should have informed him of such. You failed to mention that this is a SMALL place and if it was full or not. This is not a chain restaurant, it's home cooking and real home cooking takes time. \r \r Maybe you should stand in your kitchen and set out 10 plates and 6 bowls. Place all the salad fixings into each plate, stop and read your ticket for which dressing they get, apply them and then pour hot liquid into each bowl. Place them on trays and walk through a small obstacle course of tables and people and steps - I bet it takes you ALOT longer than your 23 minute wait. If you're food didn't taste good than you should have sent it back. \r \r Seems to me you have no clue how the food & beverage industry works and next time - if you and your friends want a quick meal - Go to Denny's.\r \r I am with Sandra and TexasDiablo (I'm from Texas/NY as well and have worked in some of the finest cuisine establishments in both states.) I agree with both of their reviews.

Myself and 12 friends went to Oceana last Friday night. Obviously we were a big group, so I'm happy to give some leeway when it comes to the speed of service. BUT, I made reservations well in advance and even called the day of to confirm.\r \r Upon arrival we were seated promptly in the very nice courtyard...from there things went downhill. Justin was our waiter. I don't completely fault him for everything since I know there's a lot more that goes into making things run smoothly (kitchen, busboys, etc). BUT when a party of 13 comes in at 8pm, whoever you assign to that group should not have a lot of other tables to worry about. We began by ordering a few pitchers of beer. Those didn't take TOO long to arrive, but we never received the waters we had also requested AND after dropping off the beer, Justin disappeared for a solid 10 minutes. He then returned to ask us about appetizers, but at that point we were just ready to order dinner. But he told us he'd be right back to take our orders. By ""right back"" he meants a solid 5-10 minutes. \r \r So we finally ordered. In addition, we ordered a couple more pitchers since we'd already been there for about 45 minutes (this is when I started timing things). Those pitchers took 16 minutes to arrive. A few of us had ordered gumbo, salads, etc. Those took 23 minutes from the time we ordered to arrive. \r \r At 38 minutes past ordering our entrees, I went to go check on things. Apparently there was another ticket in front of ours and then we'd be up. Well that translated into 16 more minutes to our food began to arrived. That's 54 minutes for those of you keeping track. It took 10 minutes for all of the food to arrive. For those of you practicing polite manners, that means watching your food get cold wandering where the heck the rest of the food is.\r \r At this point I was out of my chair and hunting for the manager. I didn't catch her name, but she was a short, blonde gal. I politely (really politely) expressed my disappointment with the service, she told me she'd start fixing things ASAP. The rest of the food arrived a couple minutes later.\r \r I ordered the ""Taste of New Orleans."" It tasted more like how Bourbon Street smells at 4am. OK...that's a little harsh, but I just wanted to use that analogy. It wasn't BAD, but it definitely wasn't good and it DEFINITELY was not a taste of the delicious food New Orleans really has to offer. \r \r My dirty, etouffe-graveyard plate sat in front of me congealing for about 35 minutes. That isn't just cause I ate much faster than everyone else, it's because Justin, with his food delivered, disappeared for a good 20 minutes. That means, no ketchup for those who wanted catchup, no other condiments, no nothing. When Justin finally re-surfaced, he brought beer and nothing else. So we all just through in the towel, finished our meals, watched our empty plates gather dust, and I headed back to talk to the manager.\r I complained once more to the manager (politley). She then tried to put a band-aid on a gunshot. One pitcher of beer...ONE. That's what we got for our 3 hour, $459 (18% gratuity added...against my wishes) hell-trip through Oceana. \r \r I'm not asking for our food to be free or anything like that. We had consumed way too much. BUT the least you could do is offer us a couple pitchers and a few free desserts to split amongst ourselves.\r \r I've had some bad service in my life, but this took the cake. Even if my food had been the best thing I'd ever tasted, I still would've left angry. In a town with TONS of great restaraunts, PLEASE avoid this one.

I've never been to New Orleans before. I've never had crab cakes before. I LOVED THEM BOTH!!\r Now I'm scanning the internet to try to find a recipe for Oceana Grill Crab Cakes and Cracker Barrel Biscuits.\r If I ever visit New Orleans again this restaurant will be the first place I visit.

hardcoremofo. get over it. did you look at the rest of bourbon street? it is filthy. im sure the entire quarter is filled with rodents. even before katrina. if you don't want to see them, then don't go to the swamp. stay where stuff like that never happens. or at least where you just think it doesn't happen. i have eaten there twice and the red fish was great both times. everything looked sanitary to me. at least compared to the rest of bourbon street and im a clean freak.

I went here with my family on Nov. 26, 2008 and this is a letter I wrote to manament: \r \r \r \r ""My wife, my 2 children and myself ate at your restaurant on Nov.26, 2008 at around 7pm. We went up to the second floor, sat down, ordered our food and proceeded to eat. Near the end of eating our meal we ordered dessert and my 11 y.o daughter said she saw a rodent running along the wall. We thought she was just seeing things. Well, she wasn't because 3 more rodents came under the table next to ours and proceeded to bump into my wife's coat. She got up and rushed downstairs, disgusted, nauseated because where we are from, things like this doesn't happen- EVER. Our waiter was a 40ish whiteman and their was a black man helping him out. The white waiter had the nerve to tell me that because of all the flooding from Katrina ALL THE RESTAURANTS has a infestation problem. By that time my credit card had been charged. The food was great while we were eating it but 3 of us lost our stomach near the curb so there went our food. Rodents are one of the most filthiest creatures and they have to be in your kitchen too. Look, I 'blew' $70. in your restaurant and i'd like my card to be credited back. That's it. Nothing more because we feel that no one should be expected to pay for those conditions. Please foreward to management and I look forward to a reply. Thank you"". \r The food was good but this episode just ruined the experience and all I wanted was my money back, nothing else. Now we have to play hardball and i'm really good at this game. I'm not one to slander any establishment(if it wasn't true) but to legally protect myself I'll have to pull the big guns out.

This is my favorite restaurant in NOLA. We stumbled upon it one day while looking for a place to eat and ""something"" lured me into this place. Food is delicious. Their BBQ Shrimp is spicy and buttery. Even their red beans 'n' rice is really good. The Mardi Gras Seafood Pasta was delicious; however, the price was not marked on the Specials board; when I saw the charge of $28 on the bill, I was not happy. (So do inquire about the prices of their specials.) Their bread pudding with bourbon sauce is one of the best you'll find in NOLA. It is HEAVEN on earth, so please leave room for it. The atmosphere is roomy and casual and the servers are attentive. Even the manager helps serve the tables as needed.

On a trip to NOLA with the Mission of Mercy group that held the medical/dental gathering at the zoo after Katrina, we were looking for a good place to eat. Well there are so many to choose from, but we asked some police that were on the streets in the French Quarter and they sent us to Oceana. What a treat. The staff made us feel like family. Whatever we thought of even though it was not on the menu they would prepare. The BarBQ Shrimp was the star of the night. Even though we are from Va., we have tried to duplicate this recipe, but it doesn't quite make it! We knew we were in the right place when on a weeknight, while some places were not opened back up, there were a lot of people there and State Troopers, everyone made us feel welcome. We were even able to tell some of the employees and guest of the free clinic at the zoo. It was good because some of their Dr's had not returned and they needed medical help. THANKS NOLA, THANKS OCEANA.............we shall return!

My friend and I go down to New Orleans twice a year. For the last three years we have tried all the famous restaurants in the city, until we were lucky to visit Oceana Grill. Best BBQ shrimp the Louisiana and best crab cakes on earth !!!!!!!!!!!!!\r It?s couple of steps off bourbon, blue paintings, make you feel like you?re in the bottom of the ocean. Supper friendly staff. We went there for lunch and dinner and I enjoyed dinner more because the mood was right.\r I had a stuffed tuna with crabmeat and topper with some kind of cream sauce ooooooooooh my god, and my friend had the mardi gras pasta she said it was the best.\r Highly recommend Tina, she was our waitress. We?ll defiantly be back.\r

Recommended by a man on Bourbon Street as THE place to eat, my friend and I were not disappointed. The appetizers were well prepared and delicious. My friend had a seafood pasta dish that he really enjoyed and I had the Tuna stuffed with crabmeat and topped with crawfish sauce and ohhhhhhhhh my gawd was it wonderful!!! The Chef visited our table while we were there and made sure everything was great, he was very personable and made you feel at home. The service was very good considering the constant turn, I have been in the business for alot of years and haven't seen very many servers that could have done as well and still never seemed stressed when they came to the table. All in all, during our visit we had eaten at much more expensive and well known restaurants but none were as good as Oceana. If you go to New Orleans and want a truly memorable meal go here and enjoy!!!!

My dad and I were looking to eat near Bourbon street and saw this little place half a block down on Conti. We liked the restaurant atmosphere, our waiter was great and the food was fabulous. We ate at Acme oyster house earlier that day and were kind of disappointed with their new orleans sampler. Here we got to taste what a really great jambalaya should taste like! The entrees we ordered, especially the mahi mahi , but also ahi tuna were fabulous. On top of that the portions were humongous. You can't go wrong with this place.
