The 7PM ""dinner cruise"" is well worth it...if you avoid the meal. The Mississippi at New Orleans is approximately half a mile wide and several hundred feet deep in order to accomodate ocean vessels docking at the Port Of New Orleans. Went on the dinner/jazz cruise. the music was good. The buffet you can pass up, they had pecan chicken and cajun catfish that had pretty good taste but was cold, even when a new tray came out--they should have more cold salads if they can't keep things hot. And they should have 2 lines going because you're waiting around in line too long-bad organization. I went on the Jazz lunch cruise. The cruise and the ""Steam Boat Stompers"" were GREAT. Narrated tour, great sites. You can go into the engine room too!
The food...wasn't so great. Especially when you want sausage and after you buy it they tell you it is Gator sausage *wretch*
Skip the food and do the tunes and the cruise. It is great and a must do for everyone visiting the Big Easy.
