I went to Meson 923 on a 3rd date with my now girlfriend. We'd heard mixed things about this place...namely that the awesome Chef (Chris Lynch) had started but abruptly left soon after opening. We really liked Chris from his previous place and were looking forward to the food. Nevertheless, the food did not suffer. His Sous Chef took over and so it seemed like all in the same vein.
We dined very nicely, but there was a constant pest in the whole mix. A woman whom we first noticed at the bar giving a very candid ""talking down to"" the bartender, then the hostess could be heard from the dining room screaming at folks in the kitchen. It made for a laughable experience for my date and I...the only saving grace, but we felt really bad for the staff for having to put up with this. Even others in the dining room noticed.
As it turns out, the woman was the ""owner""...un freaking believable.
We could now see how this place has had a shaky existence. It would be fair extrapolation to assume that if THAT problem isn't corrected, Meson is on its way out.
