This restaurant is the type of place I go to not just for the good food, but for the nostalgia. It's been there forever. Great neighborhood spot. I have plenty of memories at Mandina's having lunch with my Godfather and my PaPa. And, yes, like the other reviewers have stated, the turtle soup is superb.

I often drive past this resturant and see the lines of people waiting for a table and I wonder if this is the first time they are eating there or are they from out of town. I have to tell you that I had one of the most disappointing meals ever there. Red beans and rice. Not hard to cook, right. Its new Orleans for crying out loud. Canned perhaps! With all the resturants in our wonderful city why would you eat there? Drive on....there is a buger king down the road its much better,

turtle soup!!!

Been going to this restaurant since 1994 & it is always my first meal in the city. Turtle soup & soft shelled crab!\r
The open faced roast beef is great, but it was $5.50 before Katrina & now it is $10.95! I think that the prices have gotten a little out of hand. \r
We want Sinbad back!

New Orleans Best

Mandina's Restaurant in New Orleans is on of the best Restaurants in the city.
Though the restaurant is small, but the food makes up for it. I love this place.

If you love New Orleans, you'll love Mandina's. Great food, great people, great food!

Worst service in all of New Orleans

My wife had remembered Mandina's fondly from her childhood, loving the O&A Soup, so we decided to go recently for lunch. After being led to our table (the place wasn't very busy), we preceeded to wait for 20 minutes waiting for the waiter to come. He kept looking over and then kept going back to talk to his buddies, finally we couldn't take it any more. Terrible service. They acted snooty when we decided to leave, like how dare we. Mandina's is too expensive for what you get.

Not the same old place. Prices now exceed the quality of the food. Cindy Mandina has single handedly changed a venerable neighborhood icon into a tourist trap. There are many better local places in the area. Don't worry, soon there will be no wait to get in.\r

Classic old New Orleans neighborhood restaurant.

Mandina's has just reopened after Katrina. Long the archtype of New Orleans neighborhood restaurants, it was was loud, crowded, quirky, and delicious. It is still all of those things, but prices, which had drifted up over the years, have made a distinct jump post-Katrina. The strong and once reasonable drinks have jumped to $7 and beyond, cheap for a New Yorker perhaps, but not here in New Orleans. The turtle soup with sherry was just like old times, and the oyster poboy (though no...view morew $10, not $8) as well. The red beans were solid, but the shrimp creole disappointed. A nice meal, but if you're a late returning old timer, be prepared for a bit of sticker shock, as well as the customary wait. The (waiting) bar is spiffier, but just as friendly.view less

one of my favorites

You haven't experienced New Orleans until you've had one of their overstuffed nothing else! You'll understand the lines and the constant crowds after just one bite....
