I have fond memories of Louisiana Pizza Kitchen from when I lived in New Orleans 2001-2003. When I returned recently on a rebuilding trip with 10 high school students and two other adults from Oregon, I was gravely disappointed. We made the mistake of not making a reservation - recommended for a group of 8 or more - but were nonetheless seated together and relatively promptly. It took a long time, however, to place our order and when the drinks we brought around, our waitress spilled a tray of 6 of them onto two members of our group. While we tried to help them dry up, she went about serving other tables, leaving two of her coworkers to mop the floor. No one ever gave us towels for our seats - we ultimately took new chairs from a neighboring table - though they offered them for the *shoes* of the people sitting behind us. I would like to think that this had nothing to do with the fact that the couple behind us was older and white, while our group was comprised largely of minority students. The waitress never came back to apologize for her mistake and check that we had what we needed and then had the gall to put the spilled drinks on our bill. I don't generally pay for drinks that end up poured down my back. By the time our pizza came (roughly 30 minutes after we placed our order), we had all lost our appetites. I sadly bid farewell to the Louisiana Pizza Kitchen on my list of New Orleans favorites.
