General Info:
Sbisa's Cafe began in 1899, when the Sbisa family purchased the three-story building across from the bustling French Market. Its clientele ranged from businessmen, who worked in heart of the then New Orleans financial district to visitors, passing through one of the nation's largest cities. The building's history, however, starts in 1820, when it was built as a chandlery, providing soaps, candles and wax to the ships on the Mississippi River. Continuing to cater to sailors, the building next became a bank, where seafarers' wages were stored and finally a bar, with an upstairs brothel. Some of the patrons are still found lingering on the third floor.

This was the best entree we had on our trip to New Orleans. My girlfriend is still talking about hers three weeks later. I ordered a pork loin with chipotle apple bbq sauce that was outrageously good. The entrees were fabulous and made us forget our appetizers - the wedge salad was downright uninspired, and the gumbo was average at best. On the plus side my entree came in an agreeably large portion, a nice surprise at an upscale place. The ambiance is a little chaotic, with closely placed tables and a jazz band miked a bit too loud, but this is part of the N.O. experience. Our table was wobbly and I had to get down on my hands and knees to place a spacer under one of the legs. Service was good. Our server was very accomodating and upbeat. Recommend this place for their fabulous entrees.

Best food and service in the Big Easy

If you want the best meal in the Big Easy, then do NOT miss out on this place! I have not ever had such a fantastic meal as I experienced at this friendly New Orleans cafe. My fish was moist, tasty and almost more than I was able to finish. Had I not found taste buds I didn't even know existed, I would have never been able to enjoy all I found on my plate. I can not even begin to give credit to the staff of Cafe Sbisa which they most certainly deserve! From the time the reservation was made, to being greeted at the door, and treated by the wait staff (her name is Jen) as if there were no other people in the establishment; I and my associate felt as if we were royalty!
