Do not recommend

We were in new orleans for my birthday and I chose the plaza thinking it would be an upscale property. The rooms were small but clean and the restaurant was great. However the pool and fitness center were closed because there was a swingers convention. They did not tell us when we booked and we had no access to the amenities. There were people walking around with whips half naked. I would not have expected this for an upscale chain like the Plaza. I specifically chose this hotel for the amenities and location.
\nRegarding the location, we stayed on july 8th and 9th. There were 2 shootings outside on bourbon street if which we had to run for cover. I would definitely not recommend tthis hotel unless your a swinger who likes to live on the edge!
\nThe management of the hotel had the audacity to call me a liar saying that they highly doubted people were half naked. Trust me I was there and they were.In addition, yes they did provide us with access to another hotel which was a block or two away and a 2 star at best. The pool as gross and the fitness center was below par. If i wanted a 2 star experience i would have paid for it!

Customer Service

The rooms are nice but the customer service is not so good. When we went to check out and get a shuttle to the airport they told us to go wait outside for it to come. We waited for about 30 minutes before my husband went in to ask when it should arrive. At this point the person at the front desk said that we had to arrange it to come and get us. He asked them if they could come then and they said no we had to arrange it 24 hours in advance. Just curious why they would not tell customers this in advance?

NOT an ""Upscale"" Hotel - So Disappointing!

This hotel was beyond disappointing! The rooms look nothing like the pictures on the website. Those apparently, are what the rooms ?will? look like after their extensive renovation. However, we were never informed in any way that the hotel was under repair. The rooms were dark and dingy ? one with a dirty, torn bed spread and one with damaged furniture. The staff was almost uniformly unhelpful, from the valet who didn?t know where Jackson Square was (it?s 6 blocks away) to the concierge who was lazy and disrespectful to my husband when we tried to order flowers. The common area furniture was filthy as was the cloudy pool. I would give this hotel 1 star.

Great location and decent price

Clean rooms for a reasonable price. Remember: use priceline on this hotel, you will save a great amount of money and be a step away from all the trashy action on Bourbon. Service was good, except for check in by some brain dead front desk agent (took 20 minutes to find my reservation, no one else there). Another great tip (from a local, me): why pay $20 for parking? Park TWO blocks down the street on Rampart (or, in the alternative, Basin) for FREE. Have Fun!

Not a 5 star motel, A/C was terrible

Air conditioner was pre set at 75. We thought that we would burn up.
\nInternet cost 9.95. I didn't know this.
\nValet parking. When you needed your car, they would ride you in a shuttle bus to go and get it.
\nValet parking cost an additional 27.00 a day.
\nWould not stay at this hotel again.
\nNice room, but not worth it.

God Sent

On February 18, 2006, I reserved a room at Astro Crowne Plaza Hotel. when I arrived in New Orleans, I got lost because I wasn't familiar with the New Orleans area. I called the Hotel and the young man that directed me to the Hotel was a God Sent. I was becoming frustrated because of the traffic and the people blowing their horns because I was holding up traffic. I didn't get a chance to say thank you to that young man. So to that young man my hat is off to you, you were a God Sent to me and keep up the good work, I love you. Thank you,\n Lois Jones

Great Choice!

Convenient, clean, well appointed and overall perfect choice if you want to stay in the downtown area. Right on Bourbon street and within walking distance of Harrah's Casino. Good service, fresh rooms and a fantastic restaurant downstairs. I do wish they had a Priority club line for check in to speed things up... lots of tourists in line keep you standing too long.
