Bourbon Orleans

My Wedding

I had my wedding at The bourbon orleans and it was the BEST day of my life! I had tons of family that came in from out of town and they all stayed at the hotel. They went out of their way to help us around the clock. I stayed in the owner's town house before the wedding day and it was AMAZING! The wrap around balcony from Orleans to Bourbon Street made the night before my wedding spectacular! We had soo much fun. The door men from the bar across the street was even joining in on the fun! There was more than enough room for me and a few guests. We also stayed in the presidential suite which was also AMAZING! The bar downstairs was great to have drinks at before, up to, and after the wedding. It was a favorite for my male guests to watch the LSU basketball game throughout the reception. The only bad experience we had was the food at the restaurant. The food was not that great and the prices were too high. The server was not that professional or attentive. A bit of advice to those of you that will be leaving on Sunday morning.... carry your own luggage. We waited for a good 30 minutes for someone to show up to the room for the luggage. I ended up putting most of my things in my car while waiting for someone. Other than those few problems we had a great time.. great location... you are right there in the middle of the new orleans activities!

The Ritz-Carlton Spa, New Orleans

The bar is the best part

The rooms are small-ish for such a fancy rep, but that's very European, in keeping with the French Quarter. Went to a wedding here and although the waitstaff were really lagging on wine service (to the wedding tables) in the beginning, they redeemed themselves later. The food was great for wedding food -- filet cooked perfectly, and mashed potatoes with truffle gravy was the unanimous highlight. The Ritz has quite a nice little spa, gym and small resistance pool plus jacuzzi. Again small, but still very functional and nice. The place is like a maze though -- good luck remembering how to get back to the lobby or over to the Iberville without going outside. It can be done, but it takes practice. Best thing about the Ritz is the lounge. Perfect lighting and really nice seating areas to have a drink and people watch. It's like a big fancy living room with good drinks and everyone looks good because of the mood lighting.

A Great Night's Sleep!

This past week I stayed at the Doubletree for 3 days and 4 nights. I must say I was a little skeptical about the hotel but to my surprise it was actually pretty nice. Granite the room was not “Spic and Span” but overall there had been some care put into cleaning the room. Upon my arrival I was welcomed by Jake who was very friendly and helpful when it came to the city. He provided me with very useful information regarding restaurants, tours and directions. Each time I saw Jake he spoke and referred to me as "friend," which is always made me feel welcomed and part of the city. The front desk clerks, Dominique and Percy were very friendly and helpful as well. If I ever return to the city I will definitely be staying at the Doubletree again. This location was in a prime spot for all the attractions. It was right across the street from Harrah’s Casino, a few blocks from the Riverwalk and Bourbon St.
