I just got back from this place for the first time and I must say...I was surprised. They are very affordable for the good portion they give you. I got the budget breakfast which came with buttered grits, buttered toast, 2 pork sausage patties, and scrambled eggs with an ora...morenge juice. I assumed it would be a portion that wouldn't get me full so I was under the impression that I would leave with donuts to take home, but I didn't because I was good and FULL after that breakfast plate :). With that said, I didn't leave with any donuts lol. It was really good, like your wholesome Southern breakfast meal. The place is small but feels homely. There's also a coffee shop literally right across the street from them so the location is perfect. They don't stop serving breakfast on Sundays until noon which most places don't do that. Finding parking isn't a problem whatsoever either whether you're on your bike or in your vehicle. I recommend going down to Freret Street Poboys for their breakfast. I paid less than $7 for all of what I ate and drank there. view less

The Donut Bakery is about the best Bakery in eastern New Orleans, but that isn't saying much when there are only a total of three bakeries in the eastern area of New Orleans. Pre-Katrina their donuts had more flavor, but they are still decent. The worst thing about the bus...moreiness are the two harrassing young female cashiers who work the front counter. They seem to only bother the male customers for a tip for every transaction!!!!! A dozen of donuts cost $6, it takes them 15 seconds to hand them to you and they will ask you..."where is my tip", or "do you have a tip for me", or don't forget to tip me". TIP FOR WHAT!!!! Now I believe in tipping a minimum of 15% for okay service and much more for excellent service, BUT FOR PUTTING DONUTS IN A BOX!!!! C'mon!....get real! Female members of my family have gone and they said they haven't been harrassed about this but my brothers and cousins have been bothered by this also. MEN BEWARE THE CASHIERS WILL TRY AND PLAY MIND GAMES WITH YOU AFTER A 15 SECOND TRANSACTION!view less
Read previous review and the guy is right, the cashiers do hound you about giving them a tip. they have a tip box sitting behind the counter but will make sure they ask for one. Donuts are good for a quick fix for breakfast when your on the go for work!
