Pleasantville Elementary School, located in New Castle, Del., is a public school that offers educational and extracurricular programs to students in grades kindergarten through five. More than 550 students are enrolled in the school that offers academic programs based on the Colonial School District's board-approved curricula that is aligned with the state's standards and performance indicators in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The teachers utilize research-based methods to guide their instruction. Additional support for students and their families is available from the school s nurses, guidance counselors, early intervention specialists and educational diagnosticians. Pleasantville Elementary School also offers an after-school care program that is operated in conjunction with The Jewish Community Center of Delaware. This program is designed for families who need the support and convenience of daily after-school care. The program includes a trained staff, homework time, sports and special daily activities.
