She returned to the East Coast to attend SUNY College of Optometry, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry and completed her Residency in Binocular Vision and Pediatrics. Dr. Carniglia divided her time between clinical teaching at SUNY College of Optometry and private practice. She had her own practice on Park Avenue in Manhattan from 2005 to 2017.
