I am a proud owner of a "GIANT…
I am a proud owner of a "GIANT FLEMISH" rabbit. She needed services.. spaying, teeth and toenails. I phoned several vets in my area. THis facility was the only one who answered all my question about exotic health correctly. What drugs are used for only rabbit use.. can a rabbit throw up, When should her food and water be removed before surgery(by the way is NEVER) A rabbit metabilism is so fast if removed could shut down her digestive system. All answers so different than if she was a cat or dog. Thank you Dr. Flinkstrom! Sophia is doing well!

They recently increased all prices by 50…
They recently increased all prices by 50% or more! A test I had them perform 2 weeks ago cost $99, today, that same test cost $152! All prices just went through the roof now that they have been bought out by VCA. The staff and Dr.s are great, but run, don't walk away from VCA, they are greedy, greedy, greedy!

I was not pleased at all with this VCA hospital after loving my VCA hospital in Washington State. My dog had surgery there for a bump removal and they did not even call to check on her! They scheduled an appointment time for me to pick up my dog after the surgery because the vet wanted to meet with me, when I got there the vet had left early! They never called me with biopsy results I had to call them over and over, at which point another vet finally called me back to let me know the removal was cancerous.
They will also sell you on Simple Guard Flea Topical Treatment-do not buy it!! Read reviews online first! It is greasy and does not work. My dog had an allergic reaction to it and they wouldn't even return the unopened treatments stating "we don't return prescriptions". I can understand not returning medication that has been opened, but these are totally sealed. I have already changed vet hospitals, but I'm so disappointed I have to let others know-find another vet hospital! -
this place is honestly the best place…
this place is honestly the best place ive ever took any of my pets...i had an emergance today and instead of denying me and my dog...they worked us in with in 10 minutes and was more then helpful with everything they did...they were all unbelieveably nice and i will go there for as long as i an stationed on this island...and they only charged me a fraction of what i thought they should have...they cleaned my dogs neck wound...shaved her....gave her an antibiotic...gave me a numbing gel...and even let me take her to the Drs room so she would wake up from the anistisia...all all for 75$...that is going above and beyond in my book and i would tell anyone anytime to go to them...they have taken care of all of her needs sence i got her and for almost a year now and ive NEVER had a bad experiance...A HUGE thanks to everyone that works there for treating my baby girl with the love and attention i give her mysself...u dont find that most places

DO NOT Take any pets here....Beside the exorbinate fees they want to charge they do not care about the feelings of you as the owner or really of your pet. The technician handled my cat nicely, but the vet really did not want to touch her....(a barely six pound cat) They took x-rays and recommended surgery and blood test and gave me an estimate of $1100.00. They made it sound as if I would lose her. They asked me if I was refusing the surgery....they finally gave me the antibotic I asked for and I called another five star veternarian and got the blood test and evaluation and surgery for 1/3 of that and it was only an addition 1/2 hour drive. I am so glad I did not let them do any more. Oh, and just the visit, the one shot and the x-rays were $260.00....!

Do not trust the life of your pet to these people. Our chocolate lab died because the vet on call was too stupid to turn on his pager. Our dog developed "bloat" at night and no one could be reached. I called him all night long. The vets' home addresses were not listed in the phone book or I would have been kicking their doors down. None of the other vets in our area had a night service. She suffered all night long with a twisted stomach and bowel and there was nothing I could do to help her but to hold her. We were there when the clinic office opened, I ripped into the first vet I saw--they took films and said it was too late to save her bowel---it was twisted around on itself and the blood supply had been cut off too long. Then they gave us a bill for killing her.
By the way, they informed us VCA doesn't do that particular procedure for "bloat" anyway. Do not trust your innocent pets to an organization who limits their practice only to the procedures with minimal risk to them--in other words, highest $$$$$$ for only the simplest care----vaccinations, neutering, meds, wellness exams, dental cleaning...
You should choose a vet clinic that is privately owned for the best care. -
VCA Animal Hospitals
most people know VCA is a large chain of Animal Hospitals that operates across the US. I have been to a couple of VCA clinics in California and my family has used their services in different west coast locations including Hawaii (can't get much more west than that!) My impressions have always been the same and can be summed up in a few words–suboptimal care at premium rates.
The talent and commitment of the staff varies by location; like any big chain of service organizations, you get what's available-NOT what you pay for. They misdiagnosed my dog's under-active thyroid, which is pretty hard to do since a blood test is all that is needed to determine whether the dog's symptoms are due to overeating, poor hygiene or an under-active thyroid. They drew her blood and then said that her thyroid was fine and to cut down on her food, despite the fact that she was already on a prescription low fat low calorie diet.
When her symptoms did not improve,less than 6 months later I took her to another vet I was told her thyroid levels were very, very low. Now on thyroid medication she's doing great-losing weight, her coat is soft and shiny-she's like a different dog.
VCA should be censured for their lackadaisical attitude towards animal welfare and their outrageous fees. Yes, this is a capitalist society, but taking advantage of people when they are worried and upset about the animals they love is just plain wrong. -
FORGET THE ANIMALS--JUST BRING IN THE BUCKS!!
My veterinary clinic of many years was bought out by VCA, but the original owner stayed on as chief vet with the intention of maintaining some control over the way things would be run under the new administration. The first and most jarring change was the alarming increase in prices in what was a low-income neighborhood where it was a burden on most pet owners to give their pets good medical care to begin with. Within months the fees had escalated to uptown prices and out of reach for most of the poor people in the area.
To the dismay and consternation of the former owner, she gradually began to lose control of financial issues and the quality of distributors with which she was allowed to deal. As time progressed, and the quality of care deteriorated, prices escalated, and the clientele evaporated, it became obvious that VCA was not in business for the benefit of animals, but for the benefit of lining its stockholders' pockets.
With great difficulty and perseverance, the original owner was eventually able to buy back the practice and restore it to its former place in the neighborhood--that of providing excellent quality veterinary care at reasonable prices to those in an area where quality care would otherwise be unattainable.
Kudos to a vet who cares about animals, and bah-humbug to the corporate hoarder whose only concern is lining their own pockets with gold, regardless of how many innocent animals suffered and may have died for lack of proper veterinary care because it was out of reach financially! -
REAL LOVE OF ANIMALS
I took my sick dog to VCA Animal Hospital, New Port Richey Florida. My dog was "poorly" examined by
Dr. Tina Ferrari DMV.
I was told my dog looked "fine". Over the next few days
my dog became sicker. So....of course I took her to
a different Vet. in the area.
MY DOG WAS SICK AND PUT ON A PRESCRIPTION
RIGHT AWAY, THANK GOD!!
It seems to me that some of the VETS. are just doing
it for the MONEY and NOT CARING FOR THE ANIMALS.
