Prior to obtaining disability, when I had NO income I received good care at both hospital and outpatient facilities in Roane and Anderson county. After obtaining medicare the copays were very costly and the services limited. I saw a practitioner for about 10 min. every 3 months for prescription refills. I was weighed, BP taken and a conversation of Uh Huh ensued while he typed into the computer. I got my scripts and left. I was okay with this until I had an accident prone month. Two torn rotator cuffs (shoulders) followed by 2 herniated discs. I had to cancel 3 appointments due to hospitalizations, surgeries etc. I called to explain the situation and requested a call back. ZERO. The pharmacy attempted 4 times to refill scripts. No refills under any circumstances unless seen by the practitioner. Have you ever tried to use a walker with no arms and one leg? 10 days with no medication and ready for an episode of monumental proportions but I can finally drive. I am told I can't be seen for 2 more weeks. Fantastic! I envision my name in headline news and another hospitalization. I called another county to see if I can be seen sooner and am referred to the original rude receptionist. I spoke with mobile crisis (much more understanding) but was again transferred back and told that now I will have to wait until December. I explained my situation over and over but was told I shouldn't have cancelled my appointments. How many people can afford an ambulance ride to and from a facility for a 10 minute appointment to see someone that has little to NO idea who I even am? Are they pushing for a hospitalization? I guess that's better for them than a copay. I changed facilities completely. I explained the situation to them and can be seen within 24 hours. It took them minutes to pull up my records that yes...I have been COMPLETELY INCAPACITATED. Praise the Lord! I found a behavioral health facility that is saner than me! Again, they are helpful if you have no income.
