I used to go to Pollo Campeon about every week from the first it was open. It was great food at a great price. I was so disappointed to drive there for my weekly chicken with black beans, rice and salad to find it closed.
I kept checking back every few weeks until this week and found it open again. I was so excited. But what I found was so disappointed and devastating to me.
The first thing I noticed was the smell. It was not the same Peruvian spices, the second thing I noticed, it was not Peruvian employees as before, the third thing, there was not sanitation grade hanging anywhere. Fourth, We were the only people in the restaurant at lunch time.
I still thought I would try the food. It was all wrong. The chicken had different spices and was not tender, the rice was horrible and the black beans did not have the same spice. Even the green hot sauce was not the same. Also, you did not get a salad with your meal as before that was included in the very inexpensive price.
The food now cost a dollar more without the salad. 2 people ate lunch and it cost us $18.00, where before we could both eat for less than $14.00.
As we sat there discussing how nothing was the same as the original restaurant, here comes a lady through the front door bringing in bulk spices and supplies that looked like she just came from Cosco/Sams club or something. Now I see why the chicken was not the Peruvian Style it once was.
I will not be going back to that restaurant again and I wish I could find the parent company online to write and ask what has happened to my favorite restaurant.
