The proprietor, McNulty, has ZERO customer service skills. ZILCH. She made me feel bad for renting a car from her, as if I was the most irritating of disruptions. She GLARED at me when I didn't hear something and asked her to repeat it. It's actually funny how tightly wound she is. Sort of like the soup guy on Seinfeld or John Belushi's burger guy. So, I rent a car on a Friday at noon, to go to the Bay Area. My total price was 99 bucks for three days, I pre paid 120 in cash, figuring in a potential extra mile charge, and have my credit card in the system as a back up. Something comes up, and we end up not going. So I return the car 5 hours later on Friday, drop the key in the slot, having driven to Eureka and back. I write a note requesting at least a refund for the Sunday charge, I had picked up on her vibe, and knew there was no way she would refund me Saturdays charge. But I was hoping......Anyway, not only did she charge me the full 99, she took the whole 120, and put $20 more on my credit card!!!! I drove to Eureka and back all in the same day for $140. WTF!!!! I had gotten similar offers from all the different car rentals on Kayak, and had picked Alamo because I had had EXCELLENT service from them previously. They will definitely be hearing from me. This lady is not representing their company well at all
Poor customer service - I have been a business traveler for years and am an Executive member of National. I recently left an ipod in a rental car at the airport location and called within 3 hrs to report my lost item. It was in the middle console in a neon pink cover (hard to miss!). I take full responsibility for leaving it in the car. However, I have determined that the article was stolen by an employee since it was never found/returned to me. My biggest complaint is that everytime I called the local or corporate facilities I was promised a return call within 2 days in follow-up. Never did they return my call or e-mails. I am switching my loyalties to Hertz.
Never rent from National they are a part of Enterprise. If you dont know about dealings with Enterprise you dont want to find out. They will cheat you out of you last penny and blame you for scratches on the cars you know nothing about. Alll the care about is getting the most money of out of you. They will smile to your face and turn around and call you names. Trust me they dont care about you at all..they just care about their numbers. Most insincere company I have ever dealt with...before Enterprise they were a joy to work with...easy and nice people who acted liked they really cared. Enterprise just wants all your pennies every last one if they can get away with it.
We rented a vehicle at the Detroit Airport from National Rental Car. Our first vehicle had bad breaks and we had to take the car an hour back to the rental faciliy to get a new one, They didn't offer an upgrade or any compensation for the time and gas we used to have to exchange vehicles. The 2nd car was fine, unfortunately when we returned the vehicle we left a pair of perscription glasses in the car. We immediately contacted the National Rental car number, filed a lost item report and kept in contact via emails for over 2 weeks. They did not try to return our missing glasses, I assume they found them and threw them away...I am at fault for leaving them, but how hard is it to look in the car I returned. I even offered to have someone pick them up, all they had to do was take them out of the car. Now I'm out several hundred dollars and have to go buy new perscription glasses. Thanks for nothing..and oh yeah Ill never rent from NATIONAL RENTAL CAR Again
If you don't have a credit card you cant rent at national. Also you cant rent a car with you check card unless you have a flight arriving or departing. They are stupid. I have a visa logo a master card logo. Yet, I cant rent a car. I hope they go bankrupt.
Rate: ZERO - I will NEVER rent with National again. The Charleston airport location really took advantage of me. I forgot to pre-register for a car and rented from them for 2 nights only. It cost me $364!!! That was more than my flight and hotel room combined. I was alone and desperate to get a car - didn't have family or friends in a strange town. And when I called later to voice my concern, the General Manager Rhonda was rude to me and smug. She said, "You had an option not to accept that price, you could have chosen to take a cab or slept at the airport." Never, ever will I rent from National again and I will tell everyone I know.
Service was great. Took less than 10 minutes to get the car. And it took less than two minutes to return it. Just great.
These people know what they are doing and you can pick up a car and drop it somewhere else with NO penalty.
National Car Rental would not accept my debit card unless I had a flight number, I don't understand why not.
They really went above and beyond to make sure we had everything
we needed.Comfortable and there was plenty of storage and
seating in the car.
