Warning do not go there! My cat lost weight fast, I brought him to this nearby clinic. The doctor mentioned he was dehydrated, and gave him no fluids. Crazy! It took the vet 3 weeks to decide on a biopsy. My cat was barely hanging onto life. I asked about an ultrasound and all he said as usual one step at a time. My cat had no time left. My cats was getting worse he was whimpering in pain in the corner of my family room. I took him to an emergency center for help and in one day I was told he had pancreatitis. They took excellent care of my cat and were friendly. The front desk ladies at Far East were not friendly. One had a stern look never smiling or welcoming anyone Who does the hiring! At the top of my list is when the Dr. made a sarcastic remark . It appears that some people get into a career just for money not because their heart is into it. I will never bring my cat there again. P. S. The only reason I gave a one star is because they had no 0 stars.

Dr. Chavarria and his staff are top notch when it come to diagnosing and caring for our pets. We followed Dr. Chavarria from a Northeast clinic to the eastside when he opened his own clinic. It is only about a 12 minute ride on Loop 375 and well worth it. He is all about the animals and not the money. He is the most fair, most compassionate veterinarian we have ever dealt with in the 40+ years that we have had pets in our household. He treats his clients with nothing but respect. He takes the time to explain everything to us whenever we take our pet(s) in for whatever the reason may be. I brag to everyone I know what a wonderful vet he is and I know some have changed over to him and his staff. They are thankful that I recommended him to them. I trust no other vet as I do Dr. Chavarria and his staff. There is no comparison and believe me, we have been to many other clinics before he opened his own practice. We highly recommend Far East Animal Clinic to anyone who truly loves their pet as family and want the best for them! We have no negative comments in regards to Far East Animal Center...it's all positive! We love them!!!

I have taken my pets to Dr. Chavarria for years including the ones I own or the stray and feral ones I have found. He has taken great care of all of them in health and especially in sickness. I used to go to another vet who charged quite a bit even for vaccinations since they would add an exam charge. At Far East, vaccinations are discounted on certain days making it affordable to keep up with all 8 of my pets vaccinations. Additionally, two of my animals were incorrectly diagnosed by other local vets (my dog with cancer after getting a biopsy and my cat with hyperthyroidism) and one serious condition was missed altogether (e.g. retinal detachment) even though I brought up the problem to that vet which shall remain nameless. My dog does not have cancer and is still doing fine after 5 yrs. My cat does not have hyperthyroidism and does not need to be on the medications that were prescribed that made her sick to her stomach and my other cat is blind because her eye condition was not caught in time when I mentioned the problem to the other vet and he didn't even check her eyes but rather told me that what I noticed was normal. In contrast, I have found Dr. Chavarria to be reasonable in recommending what my pets need and doesn't go overboard just because he has the ability to run labs and do x-rays in his office. He manages those conditions that require aggressive treatment as such and when other conditions can be managed conservatively, he does so as well. I disagree with the poor comments left by others and feel that those people's expectations may have been unreasonable. I work in the medical field helping people and it doesn't mean that there is a great outcome for everyone. Though we would like to see everyone heal well, it doesn't always happen regardless of how many doctors they have seen. I come to Far East and I wait because I care for my pet and even though other offices made appointments, I couldn't be seen in the same day at times and still had to wait. If someone doesn't smile (as written in one of the reviews), I understand that they may have had a hard day or a customer yell at them. Dr. Chavarria works long hours, is open almost everyday of the year, and patients are seen on a walk-in basis, making it convenient when my pets aren't feeling well. Even though I may have to wait longer at times, he is definitely worth the wait.

Between my brother and I had 8 dogs total, we had a Chihuahua dog that nobody could find was wrong wrong with her until Dr Chavira diagnosed her and our dog got the right treatment. I do recommend this Veterinary cuz they even waited for us to take our deceased dog to put it in the freezer.

One of our cats was taken to the emergency hospital. She improved but still needed

monitoring, IVs, and slightly less than critical care. I consulted with my NE vet of 30 years and the emergency center vets. Dr. Chavarria was the one highly recommended by all. Took her to Far East Animal Care Center based on their recommendations and Dr. Chavarria’s excellent reputation. We felt sure she would receive great care there, and she did. Due to their hours, we were able to visit her during the day and after work. She was kept readily visible to the Dr. and staff. When visiting her, we witnessed the care and compassion other people’s pets received. The area was very clean, the staff was professional and kind, they answered our questions and never acted as if we were a bother. Dr. Chavarria, Angel, Ashley, and Craig went above and beyond to insure our Lucky received the best care. She is happy, healthy and enjoying life because of them. We take all of out pets to Far East Animal Care Center because we trust Dr. Chavarria and have confidence in his diagnostic skills, surgical expertise, treatment plans, and his wanting the best and healthiest outcome for our pets. We travel 40 miles r/t to his office and have friends who from Chaparral, NM. Sure, there are times when the lobby is not the cleanest but, I’ve been there when it was pure chaos with patients, some being emergencies, and the staff working hard and fast to tend to all. Once the patients are taken care of, the lobby is cleaned unless it is a real mess and then it is taken care of promptly. We will continue to go to Dr. Chavarria as long as we have pets. We refer him to friends and strangers every chance we get. Also, Dr. Chavarria attends courses and seminars to learn the latest and greatest in animal care.

My first visit to this place was in Tues. Aug. 11. The waiting area was filthy. Feces on the scale that they wanted me to set my puppies on. Dog hair everywhere. I know that this a pet clinic, but this was not just one days worth of dog hair. Had to be at least a weeks worth. Staff was very distant and uninformative. Doctor was no help when we asked simple questions. I would not recommend this place to my worts enemy.

Dr Chavarria was very good. We took our cat in for coughing up a little blood. He told us the most benign reason and then the worst reason a cat could be doing this. He had a list of prices printed out and we chose to get it all done. He explained the blood results and the x-ray to us, cautioning us that just because nothing showed up didn't mean our cat hadn't consumed fabric, or plastic, or some other material that doesn't get picked up by the x-ray. We were also very glad that not only did they do walk ins, but that we were taken care of in a timely manner. We have a follow up x-ray tomorrow to check on potential blockage in her intestine (she has a lot of gas which could be fine or could be a blockage) that is included in the x-ray set.

Horrible receptionists and techs

The doctor is great but the techs and receptionists are unfriendly and incompetent. I just waited an hour and they plain forgot me. I asked if they called me and I didn't hear it and she didn't even check and said no. I have seen people coming and going that arrived way after me. Well if you get past the receptionists the doc is really great and knowledgable. Also when you call with questions and concerns they are not helpful or friendly. I always get a friendly helpful answer from Johnson or emergency clinic on airway. I think the doc should hire competent friendly staff. For now I rather drive out of my way to see other vets.

I am always hesitant to go to a new vet after moving. Due to their late office hours, I had to make a trip here with my cat in an emergency. The office was very clean, the staff at the desk was very friendly and Dr. Chavarria was wonderful. You can tell he truly cares about the animals. Since then, I switched vets and would not go anywhere else in El Paso. I have been back several times since then because of all my animals. In fact, my dog had to have surgery and he took great care of him. On his followup visits they never charge. I also like the fact that you don't have to have appointments for routine visits, they have late hours, open 7 days a week AND half off vaccines on Sundays. I would highly recommend going here!

My cat kept getting urinary blockages, so we took him to Dr Chavarria to get a Perineal urethrostomy. He charged a fair price, which included several follow up visits to check how well our cat was healing. When his first round of pain medication ran out and I expressed a concern that he was still in pain, the Dr gave us a second round without question. Our cat healed quickly with no complications and we were very happy with the results. Today he is a healthy cat and behaves just like his old self. This experience was emotionally difficult for us because we love our cat like he is our child, but it helped that the Dr was very kind, caring, and seemed genuinely concerned with our cat's health. He is a nice man and an excellent vet.

Poor service from doctor

Jorge Chavarria does not deserve a rating. My dog had orthopedic surgery performed by Chavarria. During her follow up visit I voiced concern about the tape tearing her skin and the possibility of infection. Chavarria told me that is expected. I questioned him on his comment of that outcome being an expectation. He proceeded to ridicule me by snickering and shaking his head. I told me that I didn't appreciate being ridiculed. He continued to shake his head and snicker. He didn't even bother to truly examine my dog regarding my concerns. He is not a professional and does not deserve to advertise himself as a doctor. Doctors should show concern and compassion when taking care of their patients. He even proceeded to rip off the adhesive dressing that caused the skin breakdown, causing my dog to yell in pain. No compassion. I do not recommend anyone to bring their pet to be seen by Jorge Chavarria. I am also submitting a complaint to the board that oversees physicians to ensure that documentation is recorded on the type of service Chavarria provides to animals and their owners.

I have not yet had the opportu...

I have not yet had the opportunity to take any of my pets to the Far East Animal Care Center yet; however, I have had the pleasure of Dr. Chavarria providing care to my Doberman Pinscher, Shiloh.

Just after Christmas of last year Shiloh completely destroyed the ACL in his right rear leg. I immediately took him to the clinic in Northeast El Paso where Dr. Chavarria was performing while waiting for his care center to be completed. He operated on Shiloh and because of the severity of the damage to the ACL, it had to be removed. Dr. Chavarria repositioned the bone and stabilized it with a metal plate.

It has now been seven months and there is no evidence that there was ever a problem. Shiloh runs, jumps and plays as hard now as ever. I definitely do recommend Dr. Chavarria to anyone who needs an excellent veterinarian.
