ComedySportz is G-rated fun for all ages. I've been watching this troupe perform
live, interactive improv for over 10 years in San Jose and while many of the players
have changed in that span, the energetic, creative, and goofy fun hasn't missed a step.
I watched a show with my 5-year old and his 80 year old grandpa and we had so much fun
we spent the entire drive home talking about what we liked best and trying to come
up with suggestions that would stump the players. Although, after watching the players
successfully mime welding Zachary Taylor and tofu together, I can't imagine there
are many suggestions that would stump them.
CSz isn't improv comedy where somebody tells jokes. This is more comedy theater where
the audience supplies the theme (ie. suggestions) and the performers (two teams of 3-4
players) act out scenes and play games based on these suggestions. In the spirit of
competition, a referee is there to explain the games and call the fouls. Beware though,
the brown bag foul can be called on an audience member that suggests something
that's inappropriate for all ages.
Some might compare it to the TV show "Who's Line Is It Anyway?", but with CSz, the
players seem to focus more on working together to build an entertaining story instead
of just blurting out lots of one-liners.
I highly recommend you check out CSz!
