I bought a used outboard from this guy. He told me it ran but he didn't have the tank to test it that day but he would write me a receipt and I could return it if I had problems. When I got it home, it wouldn't crank and the pull rope was rotten and broke. I took the motor back and he said I bought it "as is". He told me that after testing it, he saw that I had allowed water to get in the engine. I told him I took it straight home and tested it, stored it in the garage and brought it back the next day to him. He basically called me a liar but said he woudl fix it cheap. I called him every week for months and finally he said I could come get a loaner motor. The motor was older and smaller, but it did run. After using it a couple of times, the lower unit began pouring oil. I took it to him and he said that I had ruined the lower unit seals. His solution was to trade me my motor for the smaller, older outboard if I would pay to fix it. After several weeks, he said I could come get the motor and pay him for fixing the lower unit. When I got the "new" motor home, it was still dripping lower unit oil. Finally, I took the motor to Buck's Outboard repair in Benton (great folks) and he told me that the lower unit was not fixed as well as the motor having other problems. I have never been so lied to and ripped off in my life. What a crook - I should never have been so trusting.
