Overall
300% Markup on parts?

I gave the review 2 stars because I have to say that the technician, Jason, seemed to be a very good tech. The problems lie in the overall costs, which just do not seem justified.

$75.00 just to come to the house, reasonable I suppose since they were here within the hour.

$125 to temporarily fix the problem until they could come back out when they had the parts.

$327 for the part, I priced it out at $100 on the high end.

Total with tax was about $637. The bad part is, I had the entire thing apart and ready for a new one to be installed, all they had to do was screw it into place. When it came to turn the main water on and off, I ran downstairs to do that as well.

Although the job was completed, I will not be going back to Beacon.

Service still sells in America!

I really need to share with everyone about my experience with Beacon Plumbing, specially the person who worked on my home...his name is Brian....Brian is personable and the person you want to take care of your plumbing needs. He will not steer you to purchase something you really do not need which I really appreciate in this day and age when money is tight.

Where it started....I bought my home back in 2005 at the boom when it was acceptable (more or less expected) to not require the furnace or water heater to be updated...my furnace was perhaps one of the last coal war veterans from the 1920's that made it through the change to oil and onto gas with a roar...mind you this thing not only was a huge foot print in the basement...it literally woke the house anytime it was on sounding more like a jet airplane ready to land on my roof...believe me there was many times I almost duck and took cover....BTW, I broke the habit, shamed being caught by my girlfriend too many times....

Well, 9 days ago my furnace motor flamed out...I called a few places to have a look and the one that made a point to see me the day I called was Beacon Plumbing...Their service man was Brian with a capital warm friendly smile on his face...he took his time evaluating the furnace and said the cheapest solution would be for me to replace the motor...knowing that was an option I asked for other solutions and what it would take to upgrade to the 21st century...he worked out some numbers and came back to me with four options with various prices...I had already known what I wanted and pretty much knew the cost was going to be a bunch of my money under my mattress (for those that think there is any left and thinking of robbing me...sorry all gone)...I let Brian know I had others coming the next day to give bids but even as I was telling him that I knew I wanted him to do the work...there is something I can read in a person that tells me what they are made of and I told Brian then and there I wanted him to do the work...

Brian had a fellow plumber named Jason, show up to assist him and it was a smart move...while I knew they were going to wrestle with a bit of a beast I did not realize the just the innards alone weighed over 650 pounds...These two guys moved out the old furnace, cleaned up the old wiring and plumbing and place a most beautiful new furnace in its place a mere 1/4 or the size..and it wasn't easy...Not only did Brian work his best to give me as much space as possible (so I can work on my bee hives in the winter) the two of them stayed almost until 11 that night to get the job done so we would not feel the cold again that night...Brian took the time to explain what he was doing and not make me feel like an idiot. He did such a great job with the furnace that I asked him if he could replace the water heater as well...

The next day he came out and replaced the old water heater as well as fine tuned my furnace...

BTW, I can't even tell now when the furnace kicks on other than I am very cozy in my home....I am no longer plagued with the sound of a jet engine...the system they installed is the state of the art and as Brian say...a piece of art!

Last, I want to say this guy is a humanitarian....I can't tell you why I know this but trust me he is...He is a great guy and stands behind a great company...I will now only do my business with Beacon Plumbing and preferably with Brian...

Overall
bad technician

my garbage disposer stopped running suddenly so I called Beacon and the technician came and asked to replace with the new one. He gave me the initial quota of $550(not incl tax) of the 1/2 horsepower. Man, I can buy Badge 1/2 from amazon less than $100. I said I could not accept the price, then he said $400 total plus the service fee of $75(which should be waived if a single visit). So I told him to fix it instead. He then told me to fix it, he would need to remove the disposer and he wouldn't guarantee to fix it. So I send him away. I was charged $75 + tax.

I called Eastside plumbing and the technican spent 10 min to unjam the disposer(just use the allen wrench and reset the disposer). This method is well known on various DIY websites.

How come this plumber so ignorant or just lazy to figure out what's wrong or just push customer around?

Great Service!

I have to say first that my initial thought was negitive. The estimate seemed high so I decided to look around first and when I did decide to use Beacon, I called the plumber for him to come back. I was disturbed that he hadn't returned the call after about two hours and called Beacon's office to complain.

They talked to the plumber and he said that he had tried me three times, but the office said I had left for the day. I realized then that I had left him my office number instead of my home number! They were very gracious about the mix up and the plumber was at my house within the hour.

I don't usually write these reviews, but in this case, I felt they deserved it.

It's nice to know

It's nice to know the cost upfront and to have it broke down for parts and labor. Very fair, quick response and friendly.

Thank you Beacon!

You really never think about plumbers until you need one! After calling a couple of plumbers and finding that they either didn't serve my area or charged high premiums for after hours, I called Beacon. I explained my problem over the phone and they were extremely helpful right off the bat. They were out to my house an hour later, made the estimate (lower than I thought it would be) and got the job done. I'll use them and recommend them again and again.

Thank you Beacon!

Better start feakin' if you call Beacon

A late Friday afternoon we had our sewer stopped up at an unfamiliar place to me. With 3 bathrooms and a family depending on it I called Beacon and agreed to the 100.00 coming out charge. What took the man 20 min's to do (easily) cost me 600.00.

Sincerely Had,

Never again
