General Info:

Partners in pet care since 1955 – that’s Banfield.

Partnerships. Teamwork. Collaboration. Back in 1955, a veterinarian by the name of Warren J. Wegert had a vision to make human-quality medicine available to pet owners living in Portland, Oregon. Since that time, Banfield Pet Hospital has lived that promise and promoted the philosophy that the best relationships are formed when people work together.

Our commitment to partnerships led PetSmart, the nation's largest retailer of pet‐related products and services for pets and their families, to ask Banfield to help bring high‐quality veterinary care to their customers by opening pet hospitals in their stores. Early on, Mars Incorporated, a family‐owned business, realized Banfield’s potential and made a commitment to support our vision of providing collaborative care and support to our patients and clients.

Today, we're more than 800 hospitals strong.

In 2007, Banfield joined the Mars family of businesses, and together we work to ensure pets receive the highest level of care so they can live longer, healthier lives. Today, Banfield is more than 800 hospitals strong, with the common goal of providing high‐quality medicine for each pet we treat and working alongside our clients to ensure they have the resources they need to care for their pets at home.

At Banfield, we celebrate and enrich the family‐pet relationship through our knowledge, expertise and products to make a better world for pets and people. We are the leader in innovations like Optimum Wellness Plans, now in place for two decades with more than 1 million pets enrolled, and the first and most extensive quality-assurance program in the industry. And, our hospitals provide the finest, most convenient human‐quality medical services available, as well as industry‐leading anesthesia protocols and equipment. We understand the special bond between pets and people. The caring and compassionate veterinary teams at Banfield will help ensure your pet stays with your family longer.

Banfield Veterinary Services Banfield veterinarians and technicians are skilled at treating a variety of pet health concerns. From the time your pet becomes a part of your family, you can count on your local veterinarian to work in partnership with you to provide the best pet healthcare available ? from preventive care to surgery, pet emergency care and more.

Preventive Care Banfield veterinarians focus on preventive care, which allows for early diagnosis to reduce your pet?s risk of contracting serious, costly and sometimes fatal diseases. By partnering with you to make sure your pet receives proper vaccinations, parasite control, good nutrition, behavior training and more, we can help your pet live a longer, healthier, happier life.

Learn more about how our Optimum Wellness Plans help provide the care your pet needs to maintain optimal health.

Emergency Care We recognize that even with appropriate preventive healthcare, emergencies can occur. Rest assured that your Banfield veterinary team is ready to provide emergency veterinary care should your pet need it.

Surgery Care Your Banfield surgery team utilizes many of the same safety measures as human hospitals. This includes pre‐surgery blood work to make sure your pet is healthy enough for surgery. We perform most blood work at our in-house laboratory.

And depending on the urgent nature of the surgery, pre‐surgical abnormalities will be addressed, drug selections may be modified and sometimes surgeries are postponed or even canceled until the surgical team feels the surgery is safe to perform.

Once anesthesia is deemed safe for the patient, we use specialized monitoring equipment to track vital signs and pay close attention to ensure the best possible outcome for your pet.

Dental Care Healthy teeth and gums are one of the best healthcare gifts you can give your pet. And it?s important you follow your veterinarian?s advice on maintaining your pet?s dental health. Your local veterinarian will help you develop a dental plan right for your pet, including professional dental cleanings at Banfield, any necessary extractions, as well as diet, pet nutrition and recommendations for a good at‐home dental care routine.

Periodontal disease can be prevented, treated and even reversed if caught early. Together, you and your Banfield veterinarian can protect your pet against the havoc of periodontal disease, such as heart disease and kidney failure, by maintaining your pet's dental health.

Microchipping Services Banfield recommends you microchip your pet with the TruePaws® program powered by Home Again, which provides your pet with a unique identification number via a microchip permanently stored beneath your pet?s skin. This identification number is then saved in our national database, which is linked to your pet's medical record. This increases the chances that your pet will be returned to you if he is lost and loses his collar and tags.

Every Family Member Deserves Quality Preventive Care That's why we created Optimum Wellness Plans®: our one-of-a-kind, comprehensive pet care made to keep your pet their healthiest. Plus, with reasonable and predictable monthly payments, you don't have to choose between your pet's care and your wallet. Take a look at what an Optimum Wellness Plan can do for your pet.

Success! Thanks for posting your review of Banfield Pet Hospital. You’ve done the world some good today.

I would not suggest you bring your dog especially a large breed to the Lake Grove location. I brought my German Sheppard puppy there she was approximately 1 years old. She is very sweet and would not hurt a fly. The vet was afraid of her. Anyway she has two abnormal growths on her and the vet suggested we have a biopsy done. We agreed. The test was performed and we paid 200.00 dollars. When the vet notified us sh... view more

I find it interesting that you were unsatisfied with services when the date you supplied hasn't occurred. I can assure you that the team is awesome and cares about pets. They try to accommodate walk ins, always. Of course, they can't give away free services. Otherwise, they would go out of business, as an hospital would.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. These people HATE animals. The front desk staff have been trained to be as rude and stupid and unfriendly as possible. If they're not trained to be rude...then it must be an employment requirement. The vet didn't even TOUCH my dog to utter a "diagnosis" (which if I had agreed to would have cost hundreds $). An emergency appointment to euthanize a cancer-ridden cat was 7 days (because the... view more

This place did nothing to help my pet. They took tests and charged a lot of money . My cat had an abscess that she wouldn't stop licking. It got infected. I was using a paper plate so she couldn't lick it raw. When I asked about an e-collar (plastic cone that goes around their neck) they said to just keep using a plate cause they didn't carry them. They charged me 300 bucks for some tests and meds that she didn't ev... view more

please don't go

I don't understand how this place can still survive and do business. They will try as hard as they can to rip you off. They may look clean and good for your pet. But they may cost you nearly 1000 dollars for nothing as well. All the staffs are untrained and unprofessional. Please get a grip and find some other place for your pet.

from experience and from people I know personally, I am of the opinion that the (great) posts on here are from employees trying to make it look good

Pushy about spending extra for everything. Will rob you blind, insists on tests not needed and misdiagnose. Assistants are inexperienced and do much if the work the vet should be doing. All about money. Never again.

I made an appointment at Banfield for January 17th for my dog because I believed she had a UTI. After multiple hours later, a life threatening MISDIAGNOSIS, and estimate for surgery around $1800-2300 which they couldn't perform anyway because it was a weekend I had had it!. After submitting my experience to the Client Advocate Team three times, writing many reviews online, leaving messages for people to get back to m... view more

It took two different Banfield hospitals and four different vets to finally diagnose my dog. I could not wait for my contract to end. The corporate staff is rude and never responds to your complaints. I have now found a great country vet that cares more about my fuzzy kids than how much he is going to charge me!

Made an appointment two weeks ago. They told me they are next to PetSmart. This was misleading as they are IN PetSmart not next to. I would not have made the appointment if I had known. I want a vet who is there for the sole purpose of my vet needs not so sell PetSmart to me. I arrived for my 9am appt 12 minutes early. The door had to be unlocked for me and an employee with a lab coat came rushing by me like she was... view more
