General Info: The term Detailer or Detailing came around from high end car shows. The owners of these cars would have their vehicles extensively cleaned just before an event would start. Having this done prior to the show would often affect the outcome of the show for the vehicle and owner thus the birthing of the Detailer and the term Detailing. Professional detailers are matriculated in the art of detailing and will go through steps that many people or car owners are not familiar with, in turn providing an invaluable service to the auto owner. In this fast growing and unregulated industry anyone can get into Detailing but its people that lack the training, experience and patience that commonly end up damaging the vehicle rather than being a benefit to it. I have not only heard of these stories but have seen and in some cases was able to clean up the awful aftermath. The term Detailing over the years has been marred and used as a complicated marketing scam preying on the consumer, making them think they just had their car detailed when in actuality they only paid for a glorified car wash and wax.
