Awesome Kennel! Highly Recommended! I take my dogs there all the time and they love it!

I dropped my dog for a long week-end and I was impressed just driving into the property . As I arrived at the counter I was received by the owner and a very friendly, knowledgeable staff member. My dog seemed very happy to go with her to the kennel. That impressed me already because she is not that good with strangers normally. So I felt that I had made the right choice by bringing her here. When I came to pick her up, she was of course happy to see me, but she looked great, I ordered a bath, she smelled good, happy and well adjusted. I was so relived since I wasn't sure how she would react to being in a kennel. I am so happy with the service and the environment that she had, that I would bring her back every time I had to leave the island instead of inconveniencing my family to watch her. She seems to have enjoyed seeing and being with other dogs otherwise she doesn't have much socialization with other dogs. It was a great experience for my dog Tina. The owner even text me a photo of Tina in the play yard! I would recommend Alpha K-9 Kennels without reservation to anyone who is looking for a special place to put their precious dogs or cats while they must be away. I am giving them the highest marks possible! I am so happy with their caring , results and professionalism. I trust them with my precious Tina.

I've been taking my dogs and cat to Alpha K-9 Kennels for many years, and I wouldn't take them anywhere else. They are located on acreage in a beautiful country area (but close to Hilo) with ocean views. The kennels are very large, with indoor and outdoor areas, clean, yard playtimes and exercise walks are available, medications can be given by experienced staff, and special requests are no problem. I bring my cats toys & treats, my dogs special blanket, etc. Dog training is available, which I have taken advantage of. Food is included, but you are welcome to bring something else your animal is used to. I receive updates when I am traveling. Laurel and her staff are all animal lovers, and take care of mine with the same special care that I do. I never worry about them when they are at Alpha K-9. They are the best!

First of all, I am sorry to hear of this experience. I have been in business for over 20 years and have numerous repeat clients that reccommend our kennels to all their friends and family. Clients come from all over the island for our expert care of their pets. We offer exit baths for all of our boarding clients. Training is available while they are here and private walks and play yards are also available. While our kennels are large, 5 feet by 15 feet for the large dog, It is always recommended to order at least one 30 minute play yard session so the pet can use the bathroom out side in the grass.For pets that do not have ordered play yards, we do shoot down the kennels a minimum of 4 times a day and use a pinesol/clorox mixture each morning to sanitize the living space. For dogs that have seperation anxiety, they bark and pace non stop for the entire time they are away from their owners. This was the case here. It was a 3 day weekend and the rest of the dogs were feeling the stress of this dog. Because I do care about each dog in my care, I did put a bark collar on this dog to settle the rest of the boarders. However, while the barking subsided, his seperation anxiety was more intense and he continued to pace non stop. The paceing made him thirsty and the over drinking of water made him urinate excessively. No play yard or walks or bath was ordered for this pet. This also added to his stress. Clients that know of this behavior in their dogs will usually bring natural herbs, a blanket or tshirt to make their pet more comfortable while they are away. We appologise that this experience was not pleasant. We hope you will give us another try.

Terrible! I will NEVER take my dog there again! I dropped my dog off, apparently he was barking so around 11:00 am, yes, in the morning, they put a bark collar on my dog without contacting me! She said she didn't want to disturb her neighbors! It's a dog kennel!! I guess I signed something giving them permission. When I picked him up, he stank soooo bad, I had to immediately give him a bath when we got home. He also drank so much water, I'm not sure how often they provide water. The kennels also smelled of urine, I understand it's a kennel but it was the worst smelling kennel ever! Avoid this place!!
