Had a great time

Decided to visit for the first time on a whim and very happy we did. First off , the building is absolutely beautiful! The stained glass, wooden beams and the decor. Just beautiful. I decided to try their garlic bread appetizer and it's so simple yet so delicious. For my entree I chose the Pot Pourii. It's a plate of pasta with 4 different sauces. Brown butter and certain cheeses. The clan sauce, meat, and regular marinara. My favorite was the brown butter and the yummy clam sauce. So...view more delicious. I recommend a visit. It's a bit pricey but you are downtown. Otherwise, that's the only con I can say.view less

Very Slow & Hair in Food

They took 45 minutes to seat us. Then, it took 10 more minutes for a waitress to take our drink order, then 10 minutes to come back and give us our soft drinks and take our lunch order. Thirty minutes later our lunch arrived. Two hours was too long for a lunch! My daughter's spaghetti had a hair in it! We never mentioned the hair because I didn't want to wait another hour for a manager. That happened 7 years ago on a week day and we never returned!

Poor Quality Food

Nice place and nice environment but the quality and taste of the food was very poor. When I went in, it was really crowded and it seems that waitresses could not handle the volume of customers so it took them forever to come back and refill our drinks.

Good Atmosphere, Food Not So Great

The atmosphere at The Old Spaghetti Factory is great, but the food is just ok. I have been there twice, and both times I was not impressed with my meal. You get what you pay for here.

Good service, good atmosphere, salty food

The service was good, the atmosphere was nice, but my food was very salty. The bread was just plain bread, the salad was okay (bad lettuce, but GREAT dressing, I had the creamy pesto), but my entree was very salty (I had the chicken marsala which came with spaghetti with mizithra cheese and browned butter). I got vanilla ice cream and it was VERY freezer burnt (it was crunchy). My finacee really liked the food and the ice cream (they ordered the baked chicken and spumoni ice cream). Fo...view morer the price I had a nice evening out and some left overs, but if you are looking for authentic Italian, rich and well-balanced flavors, and great home-cooked food, I would go elsewhere.view less

Love this place

the fun part of the night for me is to close my eyes and try to figure out how the dish I am eating was made. What went into the sauce, when it was added and how the process most likely went. The rest of the night is filled with the company of whomever I am with and unobtrusive staff that fill my glass, clear away food plates and smile straight from the heart. A joyful dining experience for any occasion.

Better off going to olive garden

I have been there twice and both times was disappointed. Once I went during lunch and thought maybe it was just th ecook so tried it for dinner one night and ordered chicken parmesan and it was rubbery not good at all. I am an italian food lover and have had chicken parmesan at many different restaurants and I hate to say this was the worst.

A Step Back in Time

The Old Spaghetti Factory is a step back in time. When we entered the restaurant my daughter remarked, “it feels like we are getting ready to ride the Tower of Terror at Disney World.” The antique décor is beautiful and makes me think that I should be wearing a finely tailored pin stripe suit and a daper fedora. OSF meals come with a choice of soup or salad, entrée, and a small dish of spumoni. The blue cheese dressing on their salad is nothing fancy, but I still prefer it to their min...view moreestrone. The day’s entrée for me was called “The Premier.” It contained generous helpings of chicken marsala and lasagna. Perhaps I am too southern to figure out exactly what a marsala is. To me it tasted like chicken with a nice mushroom gravy. My chicken was a little overdone, but the quality sauce made up for it. Let’s just forget the chicken, though. This is Italian and that means lasagna! The noodles were perfectly tender. The ricotta cheese blended rather than overpowered the rest of the ingredients. There was enough tomatoy goodness that I had sauce with the last bite that I took. The meat provided texture and weight without teasing me into thinking I was eating meatloaf. It was a symphony of Italian food perfection with each element wondrously playing its part. My wife is in love with their brown butter spaghetti with mizithri cheese. For me, spaghetti has to involve some form of tomato. I just ate more lasagna. They asked my kids at the start, “Salad or applesauce?” They declined both. This is the “Old” spaghetti factory after all. I can only imagine a grandparent coming up with that combo. The spumoni is a nice touch for the big folks, but thankfully they had vanilla for the little ones. The prices are middle of the road for what you get. You are, of course, paying for quality service and ambience. I couldn’t help but wonder how much of the $40 check justified the antiques, the low level lighting and the trolley car. Then I remembered how much it cost to ride the Tower of Tower, and recognized that you pay a little more for a quality experience. Go to the Old Spaghetti Factory. There is no reason to be afraid.view less

You get what you pay for....

I ate here this past Saturday. The atmosphere is great but the food is DISGUSTING! You would be much better off eating the pasta from a Ryan's/Shoney's buffet or making it yourself with ground beef, a jar of spaghetti sauce, and a box of pasta.\r
Our meal started with a spinach and artichoke ""dip"". No lie, we were served a bowl of watery spinach ""soup""- zero taste and completely inedible.\r
We then got the salad- no problems whatsoever (how can you mess up salad anyway?)
...view moreThe ice cream and bread were fine as well.\r
The pasta entrees arrive- cheap meats (meat sauce was full of fat, meatballs were tough, sausage was chewy), and watery and tasteless spaghetti sauce. Heck, even the iced tea was watered down. Think of the cheapest buffet food you have ever eaten and then bump that down a notch. Seriously...\r
I know people are going to say ""you get what you pay for"", and in this case, it is absolutely true. If you want to bring the kids for a ""night out"" this is a cheap and suitable dining choice, but parents may want to eat beforehand because once you get to the Old Spaghetti Factory, you will leave feeling less than satisfied (and maybe disgusted if you are a picky eater).
