In a word, Victory Learning Center is a blessing. The facility is of a size that I don't feel like my child is easily overlooked. In fact, the teachers -- even those who are not assigned to that age group -- take the time to get to know him and address him by name. In talking with them, I feel that they genuinely love the children in their care; they are not just "coming to work." My child has responded positively to the individualized attention he receives. Unlike some centers, VLC leadership places a high priority on having a peaceful and joy-filled environment. ANd they work hard to foster and maintain it. Their standards are high for teachers and I have been pleased to discover that new staff a) must come for a "trial day" before being hired, and b) must agree to a 90-day trial period at the start of their employment. These stipulations are in addition to the usual background checks and certifications required by all good daycare centers. As a result you'll find VLC staffed by people who actually WANT to work with children, and who care for them as if they were their own. Directorial leadership is no exception. Cynthia Rodgers, the director, has multiple degrees and certifications in child development and special ed, besides being a nurse's assistant. She also has decades of both personal and professional experience working with children. And best of all, she isn't a disconnected "figure head." Ms Cynthia knows each child by name and spends time in all the classrooms weekly. I could go on about other excellent aspects of the center -- like its three-star certification, or the smiles on everyone's faces (staff, parents, kids), or the fun curriculum. All of these things give me peace of mind as a working mother. But the best testament to the center's quality is my child's happy mood every day that I pick him up. There is no substitute or counterfeit for that.
My son has been attending LPLC for 2 years! I cannot believe how much he has learned in those 2 years! I wish he had started when he 6 weeks old! When he started there was an immediate change in his abilities, he came home happier, it was like we had different child! At the first of the year he was moved to the 3 year old and up class, he didn't want to move, he loved his class and his teachers. So, they came up with plan, he would spend time in each class, and before we knew it, he didn't want to go back to the the other class. Then we had to deal with some major allergies to foods! We are talking major! The teachers couldn't believe how strict, however after having several meetings with the director, we had plan! This plan has worked for 6 months! I love the structure and program that LPLC has in place! The facility is 100% clean, when I pick my son up at end of day, I can take him anywhere and not worry about his clothes, heck, I don't even worry when he wears his "good" clothes he will come home clean! My son brings home homework, it amazes me what he is doing as 4 year old, young 4 year old! We were eating out tonight he saw plates on wall, he pointed to them and counted them, there was lady next to us and she asked his age, when I told her, she told me she was elementary school teacher and she had students that couldn't recognize and count like he was doing. There are no flaws in this learning center! My son is happy and learns something new daily! If you are looking for learning center for your child, then you need to call, you will not be sorry!
I love this daycare. I had my child in angels watching over us and Holly tree and let me just say....8 to teacher ratio verse 16? yup, much better here. The owner makes all the food herself, so it is fresh. The grounds are kept clean and safe, the rooms clean and sanitized. My little girl is always sent home with a fresh diaper, and now that she is potty training, clean clothes. At her age there are going to be messes as they learn. Jess and Jenn have both helped me in sending my child each hour as I asked to make sure she understands where to go and what to do. I have never heard any language, but always seen a smile. Each day there is a color sheet and a little tid bit about what she has done or learned. After being to several centers, I do think this place is good, family oriented, and much better than the other two centers I have been to. They also say a little prayer before eating and learn proper speech like 'yes ma'am, sorry, thank you and please. Every time a child needs to go, the teacher has always walked them to the bathroom. Melissa is good with this as is Demetri or miss D. They have to monitor all children because of DHS when it comes to eating, bathroom, ect. Just in case, you can always request that they be asked at a certain time as I have so they learn. My girl is now mostly potty trained. Thanks Jenn for all your help, and Jessica for being so sweet. I also love Ann the owner, very nice lady.
