Great Food for Young and Old !!
Since 1986, when my two boys attended URI, I have been enjoying excellent food and service at the New Dragon. My entire family vacations in Narragansett for two weeks every summer for the past 12 years and we always take 25 members for great meals. From the house "sticky" chicken wings, to the shrimp, beef, pork and lo-mein specials, I have never been disappointed. We will, again, be reserving the upper level room for our family feast in August 2010 !! Also, the quantities are more than we can eat in one sitting and our "doggie bags" are deeply appreciated during our days at the beach !!

New Dragon is one of those fancy looking Chinese places right outside the Pier beaches and easy pickins' for the summer crowd. Their location on Pt. Judith Rd will always manage to lure in those that unfortunately are too fool to know when they are well off. Rather than relate all the disappointment of my meal there, let it suffice that the food was not good at all, and VERY much over priced. This is one of those places that is not satisfied with offering up the shaft on its food alone, but on the prices as well. I have to take issue with the reviewer here that suggested they may be serving up area puddy cats. As much as I hated this place, I seriously doubt that. New Dragon is a restaurant that one can say is very substandard on all levels on what we KNOW to be true.. Avoid

New Dragon has the most awful Chinese food ever. I know of two people who have gotten a food illnesses after they have eaten there. A couple of workers whom previously worked there have claimed they use cat in there food, which is part of the culture in China. From my knowledge I don't think there is any USDA standards against it as long as it is cleaned and throughly cooked. But the thought of eating your companion or pet alone is just gruesome to think about. None of this is made up, I hope they do shut down soon, and hopefully they will.

Wow, I would have hated to try the ""old"" Dragon. This place served me one of the worst Chinese meals I've ever eaten. Really bad. I would have been okay with the unconventional Wonton soup if it was good. It wasn't. The egg rolls contained some kind of fiberous green substance that I couldn't even identify. Inedible. The main course was a big saucy portion of goo. Maybe the regular cook called in sick and this was an off-night for them. In any case, I'm not willing to give them another try. On the positive side, the service was fine and there was plenty of parking. Dine at your own risk.
