My wife and I were in the mo...

My wife and I were in the mood for Italian food one night, and chose Luigiano's in Mustang,OK. We chose this based on location and the reviews we read on the internet. I may be a little picky when it comes to Italian food, but both my and I agree that Luigiano's did not live up to our expectations based on other's reviews. Our server did not even know the wine list when I ordered a glass of wine. The calamari we ordered came out crisp and beautifully fried, but looks were deceiving because after a few bites, we were tasting poorly prepared calamari. The beaks had not been removed from some of the bodies giving that "extra crunch" which could damage teeth, and some of the entrails or ink was still remaining under the breading giving an unpleasant flavor. My wife ordered the Shrimp fra Diavalo because she was wanting a seafood dish with a bit of spice. She did not like it one bit because the shrimp were overcooked and "rubbery", the sauce tasted like watered-down tomato sauce and the pasta was definitely not "al dente", more like "al mooshy". I ordered the veal picatta, and the pasta had the same consistency, and was swimming in a pool of lemony scented broth, not a lemon-caper-butter sauce. The texture of veal reminded me of a home version of "smothered steak" cooked in a crockpot. We had salads with our meal since it came with the pasta. My wife's caesar was OK, nothing spectacular. I was excited to see they offered a Greek salad on the menu, and decided I would make a substitution for the house salad. The server told me it would be an extra charge. Later I found out that charge was $3.85 for a same size salad as my wife's ( not that I'm complaining about the price, but that I expected something more than what I received) The salad came out nothing like I expected or had back-east from Italian/greek restaurants there when I was living in the New England area. It was merely iceberg lettuce, coarsely torn covered with small crumbles of Feta cheese, slice black olives from a can (not nicoise olives), big chunks and slices of roasted red pepper (I had to cut them with my knife into bite size pieces) and nothing more- no cucumber slices, onions or pepperoncini peppers and to top it off they wanted me to choose a "dressing". No greek dressing, so I opted with oil and vinegar.Needless to say, we did not finish our meals nor took any of it home with us. The server came over and had the audacity to ask us if we "had room for dessert". When the bill arrived, it was nothing more than a calculator printout with no descriptions of the charges. So naturally I had some questions about the bill. When asked about one of the charges, the server quickly turned about and went for the manager without a word. Next, the manager shows up, and gruffly asks me if I had a question about the bill. When I went to ask if he had charged me for my glass of wine, and to explain the charges, the manager became rude and frustrated. At that point, I merely stated that the menu listed the price at $4.50 a glass and I did not see it listed. He then speaks in a loud voice saying that there is liquor tax that is charged on top of the price listed. Now my wife and I eat out regularly about 2-3 times a week, and I like to have an adult beverage now and then. However, I have never heard of a liquor tax charged on top of the advertised price in the menu. (Consequently, I found out later through the internet that there are some lawsuits in the state of Oklahoma on just that topic.) To end the night out, the manager once again rudely asked in a loud voice, "This must be your first time here?". Obviously, and the last one, as well. I guess a restaurant has to cater to its clients and their palates, so I guess this is what passes over for italian dining in Mustang, Oklahoma. Definitely would not recommend this to anyone, friend or enemy!

Not sure about some of the oth...

Not sure about some of the other experiences, but we have been eating here since they opened. The pizza is fabulous! Not like your chain pizza places, but home style sicillian . I can personally say that you get what you pay for and that it is a great value.

Ehhh

My husband and I have eaten here a few different times and the food was great but each time we both have gotten extremely sick. It's not from overeating... We will not be returning because of it.

WHAT FOOD POISONING

I'm sorry those folks became sick...however, my wife and I have been eating at this resturant since it opened and the only discomfort we've experienced came from eating to much. I've been invited and have invited my co-workers to this restaurant for lunch. Everytime we all rave about there food. I don't know what happened with your bad experience, but don't give up on one bad experience. If we did.......make your own answer!

Great astmosphere and better food

We happened onto this establishment by mistake, having tired of the big chain Italian food choices and have been hooked every since. Good food and a great astmosphere. It has a old world feeling which we enjoyed very much. Prices are unbelieveable.

EWWWW

Some friends of mine ate here for lunch and everyone of them got food poisoning. They called the restaurant to complain and were told "All of our ingredients are good". Such a crock. Don't eat here unless you want to lose 15 pounds in 2 days!

Wonderful!!!

Great food and even better prices! The staff is friendly and never leaves you waiting. Nice family atmosphere!!! I've been waiting for an Italian restaurant in the Mustang/Yukon area that is reasonable and good and they definitely foot the bill - they have a lifelong customer in me!
